Keenan Allen Pro Day Tommorow.

Guarantee him we will draft him. Tell him to go out there and tank it. Reveal plan after draft.

Profit.

Yea I wish, but if you're Keenan Allen and think you can break into the top ten why would you do it?

Pitch the whole "Cleveland, Buffalo, and the Jets are the three teams in the Top 10 likely to take the top WR" and hey, who knows?

Pro day 40 times are notorious for being inaccurate often being much faster than combine times. With that being said, it will be important for Allen to show he has the speed to go with his size. Given the ankle and knee injuries, it is important that he show he still has his speed. On the other hand if he can run a 4.4, it will be faster than he ran in college. He is not known for his speed. I hate to say it but he reminds me of another Pac 12 receiver we drafted a few years ago. If he runs between 4.6 and 4.7 I wouldn't touch him before the 2nd round at the earliest.

Allen is definitely the guy I want at 14 and has been for quite some time. I've been on this guy since HS and he's always been impressive everytime I've watched him play. It just makes too much sense for it not to happen. I think he's gonna kill his workout tomorrow and really surprise some people, especially if he's healthy. I also think Allen and Hopkins are the two WRs that we covet, just my gut feeling.

Btw, Allen ran a 4.57 in the 40 in the spring of his JR year in HS, so I wouldn't be surprised if he ran b/t 4.46-4.50 tomorrow.

Allen played way to much in the slot in college. Doesnt have elite speed. Those are worrisome for a WR at 14 u expect to be a stud #1.

Have a feeling he played in the slot quite a bit because their QB was pretty terrible and putting your best weapon in the slot is the best way to get the ball in his hands as much as possible with a quarterback that struggles. Short routes and quick releases are used to help a quarterback who is struggling to try and get him in a rhythm and in Cal's case it best be Keenan Allen who was on the receiving end of those balls more times than not. He definitely had the surest hands on the team and putting him in the slot was best chance Cal had at moving the chains and picking up crucial 3rd downs.

You cannot expect every WR at prospect to possess "elite speed." Elite speed is something that 5-6 NFL #1s have across the league. If you are elite at something, you are in the upper echelon for a particular attribute across all the guys league wide at your position. There are tons of receivers in this league that currently or at one time in their careers I'd consider a stud that do not have "elite speed." As we have seen time and time again in the NFL, good route running and football IQ trump speed every time and Keenan Allen is arguably the best in this draft at that. He has average speed and for a guy his size that is impressive. He is more impressive when you couple his speed, size, with the fact that he is extremely polished as a receiver, NFL ready, consistently gets separation, has good hands, and is reportedly a very humble individual that works hard to get better and is a natural leader.

My only concern with Allen is his injury history. He could step in and make an immediate impact on our offense and I'd say only two or three receivers in this class could do the same. By impact I mean start and take pressure off of 89 on a consistent basis and make defenses have to respect our passing game outside of Steve Smith and Greg Olsen.

You cannot expect a prospect at 14, especially a receiver, to be that elite guy like Calvin Johnson, AJ Green, or Julio Jones.
