Poor man's Roddy White. No thanks at 14.

Poor man's?

They are pretty identical physically upon entering the league.....only difference is Hopkins was better in college against and it was tougher compeition?

I wouldn't mind Hopkins at 14. He's my 2nd favorite WR in the draft behind Hunter, and he's the safer of the two. I just think Hunter's ceiling is higher. If we took Hopkins at 14 I'd be wishing we could have traded down with the Vikings or someone and gotten an extra pick and taken Hopkins around the 20s, but if we can't trade down I'd be happy with him at 14. If he's their guy and they can't trade down 10 or fewer spots, take him at 14 cuz he very likely won't be available at 44.

He's a slower, less athletic, lower ceiling version of Roddy White. Most of his hype is coming from the game where he tore LSU a new one. Can you name the LSU corner that was on Hopkins the majority of the game?

Tharold Simon

And don't get me wrong, Hopkins is a good receiver. I just don't think he's worth #14 overall.

Roddy White is a pro bowl receiver, better than what we have besides Smith. I will take it.

And if Hopkins was on the same level as White I'd probably be a little more excited over the idea of picking him at 14. White went #27.

In fairness, every good D Hopkins played couldn't keep him out of the endzone. He also did most of his damage with Watkins hurt.

Speed is comparable, a bad combine time doesn't make him suddenly slow. Hopkins slightly taller with better hands.

I don't like him at 14 but I would love him at 25ish picking up an additional pick.

If we're talking a trade back and picking him near the end of the round, I'm with you 100%.

The comparison is skewed....sure, current NFL player in his prime > college kid coming out.

but coming out....Hopkins > White.

Oh please, don't try to conceal blind SEC/Clemson hate, and do some research. Nuk ran a 4.41 and 4.50 at his pro day, compared to White's 4.47. You're also comparing a 20 year old Nuk to a 7 year vet. White was HORRIBLE his first few years. I remember laughing at Falcons highlights because he'd drop so many of Vick's passes it was insane that he retained a starting spot.

I do agree he's probably not 14th pick worthy, but he would definitely be ideal if we could trade down into the 20s and pick up a third rounder.

if you cannot trade down and are targeting a WR who will not be there there in the second..then guess what..pick 14 will look to be the slot. Not ideal but If you like someone but have to possibly reach for him then you do it.

Im just not sure Hopkins is a guy you do that on.

I like him more than Keenan Allen however. If anyone watched him last season he was consistant and pro ready in most every game not played against the Gamecocks.
