Have you ever been unfriended....in life?

I was friends with a guy I worked with many years ago...he started going through a nasty divorce with his skanky wife. After they were apart for a while, he got heavy into online dating. Not the worst way to date IMO, except he was talking to chicks who lived in Russia and the Ukraine, etc...

Now I am not one to hate against foreign chicks, but he would start "dating chicks" that he never even met in person...Manti Teo style! He was a good enough looking guy, that he could go out and do pretty well with girls around town, but for whatever reason, he was content with his Internet girl friends.

I would always crack jokes with him, etc....but after a while I starting seriously questioning him, when he would rather sit at home on the weekends and chat online, then come hang out.

He got really pissed when I told him "not to give any of his girlfriends his social security number, or bank account number".... He seriously never spoke to me again after I had that conversation with him....this was a friend of over 3 years. Yes I was a little butt hurt about it, but seriously have not spoken a word to him in over 6 years....

Anyone ever loose a friend for a stupid reason?

Two of my best friends actually. My best friend in High School. He went to Princeton, and then, I really don't know. I couldn't get him on the phone, we didn't hang out, and he just phased out completely. Don't know why, but I got it narrowed down to three options:

a.) Decided he was to Ivy League to be my friend.

b.) He got bad intel from a mutual friend who he had a falling out with.

c.) He was never really my friend. He just copied off my Anatomy and Biology tests, and then once he got accepted for Pre-med he had no more use for me.

The second one was worse. My best friend after college. We hung out probably 4-5 days a week, always hung out on the weekends, went to bars, etc. Then he started to disappear down a bottle. He'd bring a 12-pack over to my house, drink it all, and pass out. More and more nights at bars/parties ended up with him throwing up on himself and me having to drag his passed out ass home. I used to ride him pretty hard about his drinking, but he brushed it off. Then finally he got a DUI while I was in the car, stone sober, after several, nay, dozens of attempts to take the keys from him. It was all down hill from there. We continued to hang out, but was still drinking! I nagged him about it a few times after that. Then all of a sudden, he just stopped taking my calls altogether. Went a year before I actually managed to hang out with him and he was just totally distant. But to be honest, I'm not even upset, because he's not the guy who used to be my friend. He's a different person.

I dunno. I've broken up with several girls, but nothing sucks worst than having a falling out with our best friend.

By the same guy... twice.

Used to work with this guy from like '95 to 2001... when we were working together and I was promoted to manager and he wasn't he basically stopped talking to me for a while... like 6 months... then slowly he started being friendly again?

Then after I left that company in '01 he and I would have lunch sometimes, I took my kids to his house to ride horses, stuff like that... we emailed some to stay in touch... then last year we had a conversation via email about amendment one, and it turned into a general conversation about homosexuals... apparently he didn't like my opinion that homosexuals were people too and I didn't care if they got married or whatever, and he just literally stopped emailing me. About last August, probably 6 months after he stopped emailing me, I shot him an email one day just to say hi and ask him a question, and he said he didn't really want to talk to me anymore bc I "had changed." lol

High School best friends but that's about it. People change a lot in college or the years after high school. We all mutually became less and less close to the point where now i'll just post a Happy Birthday on their facebook wall and that is about it. Now my college best friends, those are friends for life. They are all spread out across the country and i still speak with all of them at the very least once a week.

when I discovered that the girlfriend of my life long best friend was cheating on him, I told him. Bros before hos. They were about to get married and I figured he should know. He confronted her and she gave him the option...me or her...pussy trumped years of friendship and we never talked for about 12 years. Couple years ago he called me to tell me he had cancer and about 6 months. We hung out and did some catching up until the night that myself, his twin brother and his wife...yes, the same woman...watched him take his last breath and died. It really sucked ass and I think about it often.

life's too short to let good friends disappear for bullshit reasons!

Not totally, but we have certainly become more distant.

It's a few friends actually.

They all finished college and got married and started having babies. I am still partying and not married yet. If we are all together, everybody is fine, but they can rarely break away from their wives to really do some hanging out.

When I was a little boy my Dad played poker once a week at night, and went a few times a year on "guys" trips to go fishing in the outer banks. That does not seem to happen any more for some reason to the younger generation.

Truth. It slays me when my boss talks about how in the 90s he and his coworkers used to take a weeklong golfing roadtrip every year. Aww...WHYNOTMEEEE?!!?

I just don't get it.

Have we as men just given up? I can't get my buddies to plan a 3 day trip to save my life.

It's always, I have to check with the wife.....but I doubt I can make it.

Balls. Where are they?

Balls. Where are they?

  1. Our friends are dicks
  2. Our sig-others rule out lives
  3. We have lost our collective manhood
  4. We want to drink, golf and go to strip clubs.

Drawing this thread out to it's rational end, it seems there is only one logical conclusion:

"Huddle Golf Trip"

Seriously, we're all generally in the Mid-Atlantic region or proximal. Let's make it happen.

You get a certain age and kids come into play. I have two kids...one plays for two baseball teams and the daughter softball. So between their practices, games, and my softball commitment and work...it gets hard to plan trips. BUT...I still do it. I call them mancations and everyone should do it. You get a good core group of buddies and go fishing. Thursday to Sunday...none of this Sat/Sun crap. Or a fantasy football draft at the beach with 7-10 buds. Requirement for a healthy life to relax and healthy escape once in a while from the everyday stuff otherwise you'll find reasons to escape more and more DURING the times you shouldn't.

As for unfriended...never really. Just good friends understand that life sometimes takes you down different paths and be thankful for the crossroads where you met/knew them. Forest Gumpish/Benjamin Button and all.

Had it happen toa very close friend. He started dating a girl and decided he couldn't get his priorities right. Here we are 3 years later and he's single again but well never be as close as we used to be.

I've also had to do it to someone. Not enough room to type how crazy this girl was and how I never knew it until I figured everything out. Hd to kick her out of my apartment and completely disassociate her with my life. Really hope she's okay these days

People's priorities change. I am married and have a kid on the way. I'd rather mow the lawn and bbq then go on bingers.

Some of my friends have a hard time understanding why I am unable to golf 3 out of the 4 weekends a month or why I would rather watch a sporting event (drink and cookout) at my house then go out.
