The hate is strong with Peter King

Some impact still equals impact. That's failure on your part to comprehend.

Here's the difference between you and me, I'm not calling Hixon useless, nor predicting to know what type of production Hixon will accomplish in 2013-14. I'm going by what the tape and stats represent, and guess what? Hixon was one of Manning's favorite targets on third down for a reason (trustworthy hands; above average routes underneath).

Giants offered veteran minimum, Hixon didn't want it. It's really that simple. On that note, Cruz is on his way out because of the money he's demanding, is he a bum for not being on high odds with the Giants too?

Armanti Edwards had impact in a game....that does not mean you can call him an impact player.

Everyone that makes a play that impacts a game isn't an impact player. Those are the game changers....the ones opponents worry about most and alter game plans.

And if Hixon was the poo....Giants would have paid more and kept him. He is depth unless you suck at WR.

Armanti had an impact game?

You might want to check the game film before make a statement like that.

Armanti had an impact game? He made one catch against the Skins and got ran down. He had one decent punt return and got ran down by the Saints fat punter. Perhaps you are confusing impact and irrelevant?

Read again, said he had an impact in a game. That didn't mean you could call him an impact player....

That is what I am pointing out....the absurdity of trying to use the impact player title where it doesn't belong.

Hixon is NOT an impact player...which is what I was responding to.

Worth remembering: Peter King spent years actively campaigning to keep Art Monk out of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Safe to say he doesn't let go of things easily.

I remember hearing him in a radio interview with an Ohio station prior to the 2003 season. Don't remember how the Panthers came up, but do remember that King called them the worst team in football.

Now granted, after 2001, you'd have had an argument. But after 2002? Made no sense at all.

When we went to the Super Bowl that year, I laughed remembering that interview

Yes, because one catch is comparable to Hixon being one of Manning's most targeted receivers on third down.

Sounds like we got a guy you desperately wanted so I get your giddiness. Sorry most don't agree with you that he is a game-changer, I believe Lafell is more of an impact player than Hixon, but we shall see. I am willing to bet had he signed on another team most people here wouldn't be arguing that he was some great signing or an impact player. What I will give him credit for is occasionally stepping up when starters ahead of him are injured and quietly filling in.

BTW, I live in NYC and I have watched quite a few Giants games and I really wish I could be all happy about this signing, but alas, I see it on the level of a DJ Hacket signing a while back people were excited about a 3rd tier WR that never really contributed.

Again, 1400 yards in 5 years isn't an impact WR....no matter what nitpicky angle you try to look at him from.

Technically, pretty much anyone who gets on the field makes some sort of impact. The huddle has a problem glorifying a lot of our moves while degrading other teams. I really dont see this guy taking Lafells spot, much less if we draft a wr in the first two rounds. An impact player, he is not.

What game did Armanti make an impact? Are you referring to the WIDE OPEN catch against the redskins where he didn't score? or the PR where the tackle was made by the punter?

I'm not reading this thread's 5 pages - but if someone said Hixon was signed to be an "impact player" they are a moron. Hixon was brought here to fill the void left by Murphy. He may be better than Murphy. I don't think anyone with a brain is expecting this guy to have 1200 yards and 10 TDs.

I wish King could elaborate on why bringing in another option and a nice 3rd down threat was such a pointless and wasteful move for both parties. The comment was condescending and I personally took it as a jab at my quarterback.

I don't, I just think King doesn't think it is a signing worth his time to talk about it.

Ok that is your opinion. I could see this as well. I just expect the "National Sportswriter of the Year" to be able to elaborate and give a little detail on why it was such an irrelevant signing. Someone obviously cared enough they sought out the high and might Peter King and his valuable opinion on football.

I wonder if he would have shared the same opinion if the Patriots signed him?
