dancing around them? no. answering completely looking at it from a bigger picture than you are? yeah, probably that.

i think we could take a DT. i think we could take a safety. i think we could take a corner. i think we could take a WR. i think we could even take an OT or even an OG (tho not likely on that last one).

i'm not ruling really any of those choices out.

him being a defensive coach doesn't have much to do with it. they are obviously looking at WRs among other several positions on both sides of the ball.

i see your point, but i think it's just a bit on the narrow-minded realm of things considering the all the facts...not just the ones that get cherry picked.

I dont see anywhere in your post that sites where a receiver was picked at 14 or higher to play the 3. . . and you answered my second question "how effective will a 3 be?" by saying that "who's to say" when the first question already wouldve answered that. Thats who :) . . the coaches who havnt pick a guy at 14 to play the 3 when they OBVIOUSLY need a DT, S, a corner.

Eh look, we can go BPA, we could. . we can always fix things and patch here and there. . . but this whole Allen interview has got you guys fooled hook line and sinker. . . Im glad, Gettlemen is doing a good job.

i think even paterson could be considered one by years end due to production and involvement. obviously a team that takes him is going to be enamored with his potential and the multitude of ways that he can be used and will get him involved quite a bit. it may be a few years before he's polished, but it won't be a few years before he's productive. it all depends on the team and the scheme and the situation as a whole.

Yeah that where we disagree. I think he has a lot to learn and not enough time in a year to learn it.

DT....they are always hit or miss.

I agree on Gs being the closet thing to a sure thing. But none of the other spots are any safer than WR

I hate DT's in the first round because the statistics are terrible on them. But, I do think the crop is better this year than I can ever remember.

When Ginn was signed you cut off 2 ways to use Patterson. He won't get all the reverse plays and gimmick plays to himself. You still have Tolbert and the RB's getting play as well. Not to mention Smitty and Olsen's touches. I rather get a WR who can get his touches in the flow of the base offense. Not another guy your designing plays for.

i think the same can be said for WRs, OL, and even DBs.

DT is probably the deepest one, but WR is right up there. the talent is there for sure. good enough that we could do any combo of DT, WR, OL, or DB with our first three picks and come away with good starters and i really don't think that there's any one order that's significantly better than the other.

i wouldn't be thrilled if i had a top 10 pick this year because i think the level of over the top elite talent just isn't there, but beyond that i think it's a great draft. that's why i'm cool with just about any direction we go (even tho i don't want an OG or any OL in the first).

It takes awhile for DT's to adapt to the nfl but when you're picking at 14, there's a good possibility in a strong dt draft to get one that can play right away and turn into something special down the road. Could probably do that with a wr too in this draft but no team would pass up on other needs in our situation unless he had a stud on his hands AND he fell to 14.

smith was supposed to have had no tread left in 2010 depending on who was talking

maybe he doesn't have 2005 top end speed anymore but he still draws double coverage

CRA's had an axe to grind against Smith ever since the huddle brought him to the realization that Smith is the face of this franchise over his one true love Julius.

I've ignored anything he's had to say about the topic since.

Yes is does become a nuisance when you have 4-5 players wanting their touches and a young QB getting to much on his plate to orchestrate that.

Yeah, they need to get rid of Cam's weapons. That should really help him out. I would probably cut the entire offensive line while I'm at it.

Wow. It is sad that people think that is what makes a good journalist.

in the words of the prophet, "the times, they are a changin'."

i don't think it's sad, but I'm not sentimental. it's just life and its gonna be different today than yesterday and different still tomorrow. you got to go with the flow or your going to be stuck looking backwards while life leaves you behind....which isn't a bad idea if you want to separate yourself from society which isn't a bad option, tbh, in which case life changing still isn't going to bother you.

he's a big boy. it's his show. he can handle it. every player here knows the deal...they know their place. they are tools/weapons and cam is going to be the making them useful/lethal.

the more legit weapons cam has at his disposal, the more dangerous he and this offense can be.

Since people are finding this so hard to understand let me elaborate.

Patterson while being very athletic and skillful with the ball in his hands. Isn't a great actual WR right now. 46 rec. for 778 yards and 4 td is below avg. Numbers for a top 15 pick wr. Most of the WR who were drafted high with those numbers and excepted to start failed. We have one on the team now (Ginn). His impact in his 1st year for a team will be with KR/PR and design gimmick plays on offense. He doesn't have the skills yet to be a major weapon with just running routes and catching balls.

I'd rather get a guy who day one is ready to start at one of the WR's spots. IMO Patterson has too much to learn and improve on to do that.
