it is the best offseason move out of all moves made in the offseason ever. Easily win the next 5 Super Bowls. When we draft Tavon Austin, with Ted Ginn, and Lafell, and Gettis, we can have finally have our dream madden 7 wr set offense!!!!! 16-0!!!!!111111

I don't get it...

What did Gettis do to make people chalk him up as a scrub, aside from not being one of our lame duck coach's "guys."

Gettis' best season (rookie year):

15 GP / 37 REC / 67 Targets / 508 YDS / 13.7 AVG / 88 LNG / 3 TD

Hixon's best season (2008, second season):

16 GP / 43 REC / 74 Targets / 596 YDS / 13.9 AVG / 41 LNG / 2 TD

Now, Hixon had similar numbers through 13 games last year, but he's almost 6 years into his career. He just signed on a one-year deal. I'm trying to figure out what makes him untouchable yet Gettis is now scraps? Not to mention, Hixon was playing with Eli Manning, while in Gettis' rookie season, he was playing with several quarterbacks who shouldn't have even been on an NFL field.

He has not gotten an opportunity under Rivera because he plays favorites and Gettis clearly isn't one of them.

the difference is gettis has a lot of dust to shake off also in a sysytem far different from his rookie year. i understand your point though but another injury comeback is not what we need. however i still think he's above edwards and kp thus he could have a solid last spot

Really happy about this. The hands and routes he showed off last year when Nicks went down was very darn impressive.

You could argue he is better or equal to Lafell.

I kind of dont want us to draft a WR at 14 now...

I think we are fine there for now while we still have Smitty.

Really need to improve our OL, Secondary and DL.

blind optimism? I saw catches and plays that he made last year that i haven't seen made by anybody but our 3 top receivers. That isn't blind optimism, that's just using your eyes. He played well last year when he was called upon. Looking at this as just another body is blind pessimism. He walks in and is already better than all but three of our receivers (smitty, lafell and olsen). Yes he may be injury prone, but he bounced back. I'm very excited about him being our number 3 because of what I saw him do last year.

Yeah, saying he is better than a couple return men, a guy who hasn't caught a ball in 2 years and converted players...that doesn't mean much.

He barely has a little over 1000 yards in a half decade....you can't even claim he is better than Ted Ginn.

Ok we possibly added depth IF he can stay healthy....that does not solve any of our real issues at WR

Gettis has not played in TWO YEARS. How does this not get through some your heads? AP was hurt in Jan and back the next season. Gettis doesn't look like he's going to come back. I've had ACL surgery, and if he's not back in 2 years, he's not coming back.
