Hixon agreeing to terms with Panthers today...

Bottom line is if Armanti Edwards had been playing for another team and Gettlemen just signed him to a 1 yr deal....people would praise the move and applaud Gettlemen for "getting it" and being awesome. Just a tad over the top.

Absolutely not. You are a bit of a negative nancy. I value your opinion because there are partial truths to them sometimes. But this is an upgrade from what we have. The guy can make catches and plays that none of our wide outs besides Smitty and Lafell can make. Were happy because Gettleman made a move that makes us a better team overall.

To all those praising Gettle, you know that's crazy right? He's been here three months and we have yet to see a single snap from a team he has put in place as a GM...in all of history (less he was once a GM long ago didn't think he was)?

There were better players available but I understand he is doing what he can with the situation JR has put him in (no cap room).

CRA is right, just bodies. Even Gettle knows that. It will take time for him to get going with FA. He has little to do with this season. I believe he has like 90% say on these draft picks though, with Rivera little to none, no way to really know just speculation as is 99.9% of the huddle.

He was a star pointing upwards until the New Meadowlands unsettled turf took his knee out. Came back and made a badass TD catch (New Meadowlands again), landed akwardly and tore it again. 2012 was pedestrian but I think his best is yet to come. He won't get a ton of TDs but he can move the sticks. Adept, savy 3rd receiver that can get the job done I would compare him to a more physical Jabar Gaffney. He gets to play on grass at least 10 games out of the season with the Panthers.

Sure they would...anybody Gettlemen signs is going to spun as a great and smart move. Some of the moves are exacty what Peter King said...

I am not a negative nancy...I do save my blind optimism for guys who haven't been in the NFL a half decade though...

I also admit Hixon had a decent ceiling thus the move is fine...but he doesn't improve us until he proves to be something he hasn't been in the NFL

blind optimism? I saw catches and plays that he made last year that i haven't seen made by anybody but our 3 top receivers. That isn't blind optimism, that's just using your eyes. He played well last year when he was called upon. Looking at this as just another body is blind pessimism. He walks in and is already better than all but three of our receivers (smitty, lafell and olsen). Yes he may be injury prone, but he bounced back. I'm very excited about him being our number 3 because of what I saw him do last year.

I don't know... I look at him as dealing with teh cap siutation,

Resigning Dwan, DA, and Cap for cheap

Florence/DJ Moore added competition

Blackburn > backup LBs from last year

Hixon > Murphy

Ginn > Adams/Edwards

Mitchell > Naka

And hell if Fua is as bad as everyone says he is, than maybe Cole may even be better than Fua (even though I doubt it)

I don't understand why provding compettion or straight up improving positions is not "great and smart"

Fantastic depth. After 89 and Olsen we have scrubs and unknowns. Getting a guy who can produce when called upon is a great addition. I'm not saying we signed the next Megatron, I'm not even saying we signed the next Eric Decker. I'm just saying we signed a #3 who is better than all the other #3's we've had since Cam arrived.

I am getting a little worried that we are starting to lean OL at 14.

If Lane doesn't drop, I think it's a long shot. After him we're looking at Armstead, Fluker, & Watson at OT

Maybe, only a maybe at OG...I just don't know how Gettleman views these guys. I'd be cool with Cooper or Warmack though.

*I mentioned Armstead being a potential 1st rounder way back and think it could end up happening. I'm no expert but it is fun to be right with at least one random crapshoot come draft time haha
