Hixon agreeing to terms with Panthers today...

Fua will probably eventually be released, but we're likely just keeping him around for training camp.

Wide Receiver is still a huge need but I think Smith, LaFell, and Hixon (with Newton at quarterback) is better than whatever we have on the offensive line, our secondary, and our defensive tackle spot (we still need someone who can consistently stuff the run game and control the LOS because Edwards isn't that guy).

Actually forgot about the Ginn signing as well. I'm not expecting anything out of him as a WR but he still forces defenses to think about the deep ball whenever he's on the field.

How can we not expect a better product next season? Already the best FA period in years, ad even we, the disenfranchised huddles are able to see the workings of an actual plan by someone that actually has the abilities to pull it off. it's getting pretty damn exciting around here all of a sudden.

Que cold water post....

We still lack a sorely needed dominant receiving weapon, a RG, another DT, and about 3 starters in the secondary.

Well someone had to do it.

When we get those things, Ill join you, however.

I don't think it's as dire a situation as it was 3 weeks ago. Our secondary isn't tops but it ain't terrible. We can duct tape a few positions ths year and still be damn competitive and a threat. It's ok to be happy once in awhile.

He'll get his shot at the start of camp just like all our other scrubs. You need to let go of any hope that he makes the team though. He's pretty much a guaranteed cut at this point, baring an amazing showing.

I don't get it...

What did Gettis do to make people chalk him up as a scrub, aside from not being one of our lame duck coach's "guys."

Gettis' best season (rookie year):

15 GP / 37 REC / 67 Targets / 508 YDS / 13.7 AVG / 88 LNG / 3 TD

Hixon's best season (2008, second season):

16 GP / 43 REC / 74 Targets / 596 YDS / 13.9 AVG / 41 LNG / 2 TD

Now, Hixon had similar numbers through 13 games last year, but he's almost 6 years into his career. He just signed on a one-year deal. I'm trying to figure out what makes him untouchable yet Gettis is now scraps? Not to mention, Hixon was playing with Eli Manning, while in Gettis' rookie season, he was playing with several quarterbacks who shouldn't have even been on an NFL field.

He has not gotten an opportunity under Rivera because he plays favorites and Gettis clearly isn't one of them.

Gettis is this year's Kraken. Last year lots of people were saying he should be cut, he'd never be able to play the run, he would never amount to anything, theyd be shocked if e was on the roster and there were a few of us who defended him and saw his potential. I think Gettis will be similar this year. Might not break out to quite the extreme Kraken did but I think he'll earn his roster spot. Will at least be the #4 receiver.
