GP's 3rd and Final Mock Draft

How do you plan on filling the holes at OL and DL?

RG with a vet out of FA. go on a binge, pick up several OGs on one year vet min contracts and create compitition....which is the way i would rather go regardless of what else we do. i don't want to draft another OG early. i don't want another rookie starting on the OL. i don't think that the guard position warrants drafting one in the first round because there's just not that much seperation between average/solid OGs and elite ones. i don't want to be taking on the giant contract when time comes for an extension...not for a guard anyways. point is, i wouldn't have taken one anyway.

at DT...pretty much the same. get a big solid NT who can absorb blockers and help shut down the run. should be cheap...at least this year. and maybe pick one up in the 4th or find some way to get into the 3rd and pick one up.

Let me try to put this in simpler terms for you:

QB- check

Pass Rushers- check

TD Scorers- check

OG- X

NT-X

Steve Smith is an incompetent nobody? He may be aging but he is still producing. Lafell and Olsen are much better players at their position than Geoff Hangartner, Sione Fua or Collin Cole. We can't afford to go another season with a patchwork OL or we'll be looking for a replacement for Cam. NT can probably be filled in another year with someone like Ron but I think this draft makes the most sense. You fill two positions that we've neglected for quite a few years with players that aren't that risky. WR is is a boom-or-bust position and I don't see any player worth the risk in the first. What WR would you take in the 1st or 2nd?

You continue to have conflicting arguments about the WR position.

"It's boom or bust, man! We gotta play it safe!"

"try drafting one late! Find that diamond in the rough!"

And frankly, it's amusing that you suggest we don't need another WR because we have Lafell. This is no longer the game we play. Behind 34 year old Smith, the cupboard is essentially bare.

And truth be told, I don't really care about your opinion on this year's crop of WR's as long as I have an army of scouts, coaches, analysts and other fans to suggest that your opinion is wrong.

How is that conflicting? You have nothing invested if you draft one late. What would you rather spend on a bust; a 4th rounder or a 1st rounder? I get it, outside of Smith, our WR position isn't that strong. Still, it's much stronger than OG and NT. Why am I even arguing with you?
