i know some of you are going to bash this because its on bleacher report but its the offseason so hey. let me know what you think. in my opinion it just shows why this draft should be all about protecting Cam and giving him weapons.

This guy is an asshat. He makes an excuse for every big win we had and comes up with his own logic on why Cam stat's are inflated and overrated. He's a hater.I don't see where he mentions our leads heading in the 4th Qtr.

You can do this with any QB. Colin Kaepernick's entire offense is gimmick pistol BS yet people crown his ass. And it's easy to discredit any teams win. I mean the fuggin Bears went 10-6 but the first time they actually played a team worth a damn they got their teeth kicked because they are most overrated team in the league.

the moment you throw that out in any article is the moment any hope of being taken seriously should be thrown out.

His favorite SEC team probably got thumped by Auburn in 2010, that's the only base that uses the "scam" term.

Well one of the more in depth articles especially for the offseason. Not sure what the point of the article was but it is hard to argue with the results from his research. Whether or not shouldering the blame on Cam early in the season is fair, because everyone especially on offense was playing poorly, but what was obvious is that the offense didn't live up to expectations or even remotely close based on how effective they were in 2011. Yea the defense gave up some scores late in games, but during that 2-8 start, the offense was averaging well below 20 points per game which is going to get you more losses than wins.

agreed^^^ the defense def. cost us wins late in games, despite playing much better thru the rest of the game as the season went on.

rivera's biggest mistake was putting the game in their hands which was essentially giving the other team a chance to win, which is stupid and should never be done when its so easy to make big gains in a short amount of time thanks to rules protecting the deep passing game.

if we had kept the ball in our offenses hands, would the other team had been able to score?

you've got to control the scoreboard throughout the game. you've got to score more than the other team, a lot more because you never know for sure if your D is going to be able to prevent the other team from scoring. the best defense is a good offense.

the first three quarters have to be about getting a sizeable lead. the last quarter needs to be about protecting that lead and you do that by keeping the ball in your hands and eating up the clock. defense should be a last resort and should never be trusted with trying to stop the other team. always count on them failing. hope for the best. prepare them to be great. but expect failure.

cam does need to improve and he's got room for it because the sky is the limit and as good as he is, he's just going to get better...he's still really early into a long career that he's several years away from peaking. but he's not the reason for the losing season. who really needs to step it up at the end of games is the defense and rivera's playcalling/game management.

Great post.

problem still lies with coaching.

they had something that was working the previous year and they switched to something different....and that something different resulted in us averaging less than 20 points per game. rivera didn't have either the sense or the balls to quit doing what obviously wasn't working and go back to what was and then build on that instead of trying to recreate the wheel. it doesn't take a 2-8 record and a GM getting fired for you to realize that what you're doing isn't working and needs to change.
