A Look at Our Current Fat Bodies

Recommended Posts

I wanted to start some discussion about the big men on our team. G-Mizzle has already stated that large bodies are a priority and I couldn't agree more. I believe your team lives and dies in the trenches and our trench warfare is lacking. What changes can be made to this squad? What additions are you looking to make and at what positions?

Are you suprised these areas have not been addressed more in FA (with what little cap room we have)?

We need a RG.

Dwan is good at what he does. Frank Kearse is a good back up and I think Colin Cole could be a solid pickup, not an answer but a decent player. He was pretty good a few years ago. If we take a top NT I think we have a real shot at the best front 7 in the NFL.

I think the comment "Big guys help you compete" is interesting, because besides re-signing Dwan and bringing in Cole, an out-of-the-league average NT on a bad Seahawk team, he has ignored the biggest weakness on the team--so far.

The other biggest need on the team is RG. Crickets.

The plan is unfolding, and he is not finished. At the moment, after signing 3 CBs and 2 safeties, a LB, a kick returner/WR, we seem to be focused on WR. Hixon, Stedman, Melette, etc etc.

and

Why does it seem we are not focusing on linemen? We have about $5 million or more? I feel that this could indicate that the first round pick is expected to be DT. I think the idea is to trade down if possible.

if this OL draft is as good as people are talking about, there's going to be some vet OL hitting the streets because there were cheaper alternatives in the draft. when that happens, we'll probably be more active. i expect that we'll see several picked up heading into TC and a good bit of competion for the starting gig. considering we'll have gettleman's eye doing the scouting, i'm pretty sure we'll have decent choices.

I do not think Bell is good enough vs the run for Gettlemen to think he is good. RT is not a priority, but RG is. Aside from that Giant G that re-signed with Big Blue, I have heard nothing about RG.

Hangartner and Garry Williams are still on the roster, which scares me a bit. Williams has the measurables, but has sucked. Hagartner is C/LG depth, not RG.

If we sign Hixon, that gives us Hixon, Smith, and Lafell, with Gettis and Ginn on deck. Sure we could upgrade WR, but that is solid compared to DT and RG.

Are we going DT (maybe a NT AND an UT) and G in the draft? If it were tomorrow, probably so.
