'Canes acquire defenseman Marc-Andre Bergeron

I'm guessing he was brought in to help special teams, I just hope it works.

Pretty sure his specialty is the power play. Thats most likely the reason he was brought in, seeing as our power play has been so awful. Funny how we are trading them a player we claimed from them off waivers like a month ago. Unlikely that this is the veteran defensive presence that we need.

From ESPN:

Contending teams in need of a power-play specialist might be chatting with the Tampa Bay Lightning today and tomorrow. According to RDS' Renaud Lavoie, defenseman Marc-Andre Bergeron is likely on the move.

"... Marc-Andre Bergeron not on the ice in Tampa. He should be traded today ..."

A part-time player since joining the Lightning in early 2011, Bergeron has had his productive moments when not hurt or sitting out as a healthy scratch. An unrestricted free agent this summer, the 32-year-old is an inexpensive, low-risk addition for a team wanting more offense from its blue line.

Lol we claimed Hall off of waivers from them and then shipped him back for a better player.

Good pick up, hopefully we move McBain now.

What else would we send along with Mcbain right now? I don't know if I would risk sending a first round pick somewhere, seeing as we need high potential prospects. This years draft is pretty deep, and if we could swing Pulock, Nurse or Mantha I think they could all be available at 10, and all of them could be superstars one day. I guess the point is that if we send out our first round pick, AND one of our better(maybe not this season but overall) young players, for a defenseman that somehow doesn't get our team back on the right track, it will be very detrimental to the future of the club. The only way I would entertain a trade like that is if we are getting an impact young-ish player in return. Players on the block right now that come to mind are Yandle or Smid(before he signed the extention with EDM). Wouldn't mind having Ryan Whitney either as long as he comes very cheap, which I believe he will be available for.

Keep the first, package McBain and Jokinen for a good 3rd line winger and move Skinner back to Staal's wing and then send Sangs back to the AHL.

A healthy line-up

Tlusty - Staal - Semin

Skinner - Staal - Ruutu

Trade - Nash - Dwyer

LaRose - Brent - Westgarth

Bowman

Gleason - Faulk

Pitkanen - Corvo

Harrison - Bergeron

Bellemore

Ward

Ellis

Hopefully that could be a potential playoff line-up if we get there.

Thats not terrible, but I think Skinner is part of why we haven't been playing well lately. He doesn't contribute all that much on the defensive and and he is hesitant to engage in board play when we dump the puck in the zone. I think he is either thinking to much or has become afraid of getting hit, whatever it is I really hope he can get over it. I think he needs to be on a line with an enforcer, like Westgarth, for a while so he can feel protected.

What is Faulk's timeline for a return? We really need him back.

I think Ruutu and Jordan are two pretty good guys at protecting little Skinner. The problem I see with Skinner is that he's trying to do too much instead of just playing his game. I'd also like to see him become more team orientated. If your offensive game isn't working, don't pout about, play some defense.

Faulk is skating now, he should be back by next weekend.
