Who's your "prime target"?

Mr. Scot

First and foremost I want a trade down- maybe with San Fran their 31, 34 picks for our 14th....then throw in some other picks to make it work right

I'd pray Cyprien and Keenan Allen (or Deandre Hopkins) were there

i think a lot of people like patterson, but realize he's a swing for the fences type pick. he's a bit of a gamble. and there's safer directions we could go. the potential is there, tho.

and warmack...i think most have realized just how unlikely an OG in the first is for us.

When I watched Alabama play, I liked Warmack but remember liking D J Fluker better.

I'd be happy with Fluker in the second. Not sure where he's projected.

agreed on fluker. i've seen anywhere from late first to mid second, but i have to admit to not really paying close attention lately so i don't know.

I plan to catch up before Draft Day rolls around.

Having a harder time finding draft previews in the stores this year. Don't know why.

probably because it costs too much money to print for so little buyers who can find more info online...and who would be willing to pay for it.

i know i'd be getting out of the print business and set up a pay site for people to get "exclusive" info.

you could set up a pay site for exclusive info and analysis for $4.99 and people wouldn't have much problem throwing that down and espninsider has shown you don't have to actually add that much for suckers to be willing to pay for bad football info.

I think the BPA's will be Cooper, Austin or Allen. IMO there's like a 50% chance Cooper will be there -- but even if he is, you don't know if Gettleman wants to draft a guard that high. The Giants haven't drafted an O-lineman high in a long time. I think Allen's the best pure WR prospect in the draft. He has good size, good speed and perhaps the best ball skills in the draft. The injury is all that worries me. We all know how much it sucks for your 1st round pick to get hurt. Austin is not your average receiver, but he's a dynamic weapon with game-breaking ability. Right now, I might favour Allen just because he has the potential to replace Smitty as a quintessential no.1.

Cooper over Warmack?

Bare with me. What if we traded down twice and out of the first? Maybe locking up 6? or so 2nd and 3rd round picks for the next two yrs. Would do that.

Back to OP

with the 14th pick of this yrs draft i would take Jarvis Jones/S. Richardson/Xavier Rhodes

why? have a feeling those guys are the ones sitting there still and we will have a nice opportunity to get OLB replacement and groom him, shore up the middle line beside Dwan and add a big, strong, press man cb.

Didn't Jarvis Jones bomb his pro day?

My prime target is Star, but I know it's not a likelihood. Of the more likely players available at our pick I honestly am at a loss. Hankins would still be my preferred pick. If not Hankins there really aren't that many impact players around our spot in my opinion. None of the WRs are even close, OG just isn't a value position (but if I had to choose Warmack would probably be my #2 at our pick), I really don't see us spending a high pick on a CB this year, none of the S are 1st round quality players. My second choice behind Hankins would have to be trying like hell for a trade down to pick up an extra 2nd to pick from the deep 2nd round value pool. Get a guy like Hunter or Hopkins (my money is on them being the two best WRs in this class) at the end of the 1st and get an extra 2nd to spend on a combo from S/DT/OL in the 2nd.

Curious. Would you take Warmack if Tavon Austin were still available?

star lotulelei. and i would be willing to move up to get him.

moving up to take anyone in the first round would be one of the few things that would get me upset in this draft...esp. since we have so few picks this year.

no more mortgaging the future.

A small trade down and Kawann Short !

Short is a first rounder.

My ideal draft looks like this:

If Tavon Austin is there @ 14, try to work a trade with the Rams or Vikings (both with multiple first rounders) for an add'l 2nd round pick and 4th rounder. For example, trade with the Rams for their #22 and their 2nd rounder and perhaps 4th rounder for #14. Then, with the traded picks, take Jonathan Cyrien (SS) or Keenan Allen (WR if he works out well) with 1st rounder; Kawan Short (UT) @ #44; and Stedman Bailey (WR) or BPA @ DB, DL or OL with Rams second rounder. With the two (2) fourth rounders, take BPA of whatever we missed with the prior picks.

If no viable trade can be worked out, then I'm ok with taking Austin or BPA..
