Yeah but which one of these mostly dime a dozen WR's you listed is going to replace Steve when he retires?

We have none. NADA.

Im not saying we should not go WR. Im the biggest receiver at 14 fan on this forum.

Im just saying if Gettleman do sign Hixon, he's putting himself in a situation to take a DT at 14.

Re-read it again. You keep on asking me the same question every time after I give you the same answer back every time..

Theres no way Adams is getting cut.

I dont see AE, Pilares, Gettis or Lamont making the team if I have to decide.

Actually I think Pilares has more value. He had a few plays ran for him in an empty set where he motioned as a hb. Also had a nice screen pass TD out of a spread look. He is a balanced and sure handed guy..but definitely not irreplaceable.

It will be something decided in the preseason where production will be the decider. Lamont will not get enough reps

I know Chud is not here any longer but if anyone thinks Shula will just mimic his past run heavy offense I think you are underestimating what will be done. The qbs in Tampa could not make plays so you had to mask them with a run heavy caretaker type offense.

i think it's gonna come down to keeping either Pilares or Adams. I dunno I just think like Pilares has shown a little more then Adams. It will be an interesting preseason battle. Armanti is as good as gone I hope.

I only put Lamont's name on the list bc people likes to mentioned his name all the time. I dont see him as a diamond in the rough kind of guy. Hes nothing more than a PS player in my eyes. For Pilares, I dont think he will be back. He has no value now with the addition of Ted Ginn returning kickoff/punts duty. Pilares is a slot guy, but hes not going to win that position if Hixon is signed or we draft a receiver in the draft. Hes a straight line runner. Hes not even half the player of his former teammate Greg Salas is, and Salas has trouble finding a spot on a team.

IMO, our top 6 is:

Smith

LaFell

Pilares

Ginn Jr

Gettis

Adams

In that order due to what the coaches thought of them last season. Throw in Hixon and then Adams and Gettis are on the bubble. Possibly Pilares too but not as much as those 2.

If we draft a WR with our first pick as well, Gettis and Adams are gone IMO.

And I only mention Gettis because for some reason Rivera has him in his doghouse. He was healthy at the end of last season and didn't play him at all.

I just cant see how Adams will be cut. He has more potential than Pilares. And, you just dont cut a player like that after a rookie year. Pilares hasnt shown much in my opinion since he was drafted. People likes to get carried away after one play (TD vs ATL). He still hasnt won me by that one play.

In my opinion if we add Hixon and a receiver(1/st2nd):

Smitty

Lafail

Ginn

Adams

Hixon

Draft

Gettis, AE, and Pilares are goners. Adams is safe bc he's a Rivera guy even though he was in his dog pound for most of the season last year.

Are you sure? I can ask the question again another way if you want. ;)

If we go defense at 14 I won't be pissed. I'm just saying, don't put it past Gettleman to purge our sub par WR group.

I think Hixon would be a great signing for us. I watched his 2012 highlight reel. I know it's a highlight reel but the thing I noticed about him is that he makes several catches in several games. He's not like Murphy or Edwards who makes a catch every 3 games. He has the ability to go on a route so to speak. He also makes tough catches.

He makes our depth better. A #2/3 caliber WR competing for the 3rd and 4th WR spot is better than having Pilares and Edwards competing for the same spot every year. Good move by Gettleman.

well Pilares also plays on the coverage units of special teams which Adams doesn't do. I just see no reason for us at all to keep Adams of we go wr round one or sign hixon.

I'm just glad gettleman isn't as impressed with our existing WR corps like some in here.

and if we pick him up, i don't think that it eliminates the possibility of drafting one early.

I've been expecting our WR to undergo a serious overhaul this season and would be a bit surprised to see smitty and lafell be the only remaining WRs from last year.
