Dear Cowboy Fans

Don't see the issue.

Romo was a FA next year. They're not in a position to draft a replacement. He's still got 3-4 years of top level play in him.

Here's a decent writeup about "the issue".

Romo worth $108M? Best, worst moments of Cowboys QB's career (CBS Sports)

Summed up in a single sentence: Romo turns in his best performances when relatively little is on the lines, but he chokes it away in big games.

I seriously doubt any GM in the league - other than Jerry Jones - would have offered 6 years / 108 million / 55 million guaranteed to a quarterback with Romo's record.

He sort of did once, specifically when he hired Bill Parcells.

Unfortunately for Cowboy fans, Jones saw Parcells failure to win a Super Bowl as proof that he didn't need a football guy in charge. By his thinking, it meant that he was just as good a GM as Parcells.

(this is typical of how a narcissist sees things)

Well, in JJ's defense, narcissism is harder to avoid when you've enjoyed a great deal of personal success. His failing is in thinking that success in one endeavor automatically translates to acumen in another. It's quite the blind spot he walks around with, sadly for Cowboy's fans, happily for the rest of us.

That's what happens when EVERYTHING is on your shoulders.

Bad O-line, UDFA WRs (+ a headcase + admittedly a great TE).

Without Romo the Cowboys would have picked in the Top 10 this year.

Romo threw for 416 yards and four touchdowns along with no interceptions, only to watch the Cowboys lose 34-31 to the Saints. Romo has thrown for over 370 yards six times in his career, the Cowboys are 0-6 in those games.

The Cowboys lose a lot of the games even when Romo is at his best. The problem is the entire team sucks in big games.
