What happened to the Warmack bandwagons?

Decastro graded significantly higher than Cooper is graded now. There are multiple guards who grade within 2 points of Cooper this year while Castro was around 6 ahead of Cooper. Warmack grades at a 95.something....higher than either.

Warmack and Cooper are graded around the same by a ton of scouts. NFL network had 2 of the three on the segment on them pick Cooper. All had the rated the same or too close to call grading wise.

fwiw...

Citing "whispers around the league," ESPN's Adam Schefter hinted on his blog that Alabama OG Chance Warmack could be in for a draft-day mini-slide.

Schefter believes it "wouldn't be completely shocking" if Warmack were available at the Cowboys' No. 18 overall selection. Warmack is a lock first-rounder, but keep in mind many pegged David DeCastro as a top 10-15 pick last April and he lasted to the Steelers' pick at 24. Guard is not a coveted NFL position. Nah. Warmack is by far the better prospect. I really think he might go in the top 10.

Cooper is an exceptional athlete but I think he is bottom 1st or early 2nd simply because you have to be a superfreak to get drafted high at OG.

Depends on what a team is looking for in their G. War back is more if a big road grader. Cooper is a good run blocker but is more athletic in pass protection.

I could see either as the first guard off the board....just depends on what team pulls the trigger on a guard.

true.

also, zone blocking schemes would probably value cooper more. the eagles would be more interested in him than warmack.

those two aren't going to be listed in the same order on boards on every team. it all depends on what they are looking for there.

and then for them in general...it all depends on the priority that teams put on the position at all. they might be considered the best players in the draft (hard to qualify that, but whatever) or just light years ahead of the rest in their class (which is doubtful), but if OG just isn't a high priority on team's lists, it doesn't matter how good they are. for that price and the price of future contracts, that position just isn't seem to be worth it. that's why people are talking about them falling and why decastro fell last year.

Fair enough. You have already exceeded my analytic ability of OG prospects.

Exactly. Analysts just hear the NFL guys raving about a prospect and don't take into account the position he plays. You'd never see a kicker, punter, or FB mocked in the 1st round. Yet they can't get it through their thick skulls that interior OLs almost never go in the top half of the 1st. Elite ones go around 20ish, very good ones go jear the bottom of the first, and there will be years when none go in the 1st at all.

Sebastian Janikowski says hey.

What gets me is the fact that 1/2 this damn forum is all over how bad our offensive line was. Yet no one thinks taking Warmack or Cooper is a good idea. No way either of these two fall out of the first round. And definitely not to 44.

Gettlemen is a from an organization that believed in strength in the LINES. IMO Warmack and Cooper are definitely an option in there. I would say that if either is available we will take one of them before we take Richardson at DT.
