Gross Restructured, Blackburn Signed, What's Next?

I think what you really mean is:

Trade down 5-8 spots pick up extra second...

1st. Best WR available

2nd. Best Safety available

2nd. BPA

Turn off Madden

1st. Best WR available

2nd. Best Safety available

Cry over the fact that the real world is not Madden.

Wait you mean to tell me that an Internet message board and the 2013 draft is not Madden? Riveting.

So what is the point to suggest something that has absolutly no chance of happening?

Absolutely no chance of happening?

We have a new General Manager. You do not know what his tendencies or preferences will be come draft day. We have only 5 picks in this draft and quite a few needs and a trade down would likely net us three starters from this draft.

Riddle me this: Why has nearly every prospect we have brought in, interviewed, and worked out been seemingly a low first round/middle second round pick? Sure, they may just be doing their due diligence and covering all the bases but wouldn't you think that they would first meet with and work out prospects that were viable options at 14 rather than guys that haver lower grades? I'd say that is a pretty tell-tale sign that Gettleman and co. have a plan to do their best to slide down in the first a bit and pick up an extra second or early third.

As for potential scenarios why or how a trade might happen:

Maybe the Vikings, because they have two firsts, looking to get ahead of the Rams who are likely to take a receiver if one of their liking is available at 16. Lets assume Tavon Austin is there when we are on the board at 14 yet the Panthers don't feel he is our guy. Thus, the Vikings look to provide Ponder another Percy Harvin-type weapon and jump in front of the Rams and trade for our 14th.

Another possibility: It is well documented the Saints are looking to move to a 3-4. I can see some other 3-4 teams behind the Saints looking to trade up for the best available 3-4 pass rusher available that will be there at 14; one pick ahead of the Saints. This could be Jarvis Jones, Ziggy Ansah, or Mingo.

The 49ers have a boatload of picks and may fall in love with one prospect who will still be on the board at 14. With so many picks, it isn't out of the realm of possibility that they give some of those up to secure a prospect they think could be a missing piece whether it is a safety, wide receiver, or defensive lineman.

If the Panthers are serious @ trading back 5-8 picks I think they could pull it off with some effort. Trades happen in the draft every year and this year will be no different. Because the Panthers did not trade trade under Hurney does not mean the same will happen under Gettleman. After reading this if you still say there is no chance of a trade scenario happening involving the Panthers on draft day you are either oblivious and/or a liar. There is always a chance but lets hear your well thought out responses to why there is absolutely zero possibility of a trade down scenario occurring.
