We just signed Chase Blackburn

We're gearin up to run that 4-6.. Rivera was part of it, he knows how to run it. Gave QBs fits it did, time for the next round. That Mitchell signing almost supports my theory, he was highly favored by the Bears until Al Davis pulled an Al Davis... And the defense gets better, I like it....

I could honestly see us running it on occasion of everything falls into place but it obviously won't be our base defense

Actually, I was having fun with the absurd notion that a the word "overacheiver" was a reason for pause, but it's OK, he wasn't signed to start at MLB or OLB, so we both win.

Unless we plan on using all of the cap room from the gross restructure to just straight cut beason to remove his contract completely from 2014 books. Not saying we should or will do it but it is an interesting thought. Considering your 3rd starting linebacker plays less than half your defensive snaps in the new pass happy nfl i think blackburn could be a solid guy for what he would be asked to do.

It's actually a good signing, just lemme say that for the record. Gives us James Anderson level play for much much less.

Think the switch of the two is probably one of the more underrated moves this team has made in a while.

And agreed lol at pantherclaw

Overachiever beats an underachiever...he'll get used efficiently I'd suspect.

God don't you hate those overachievers

damn them and their sense of accomplishment

Yeah what the hell was this guy thinking by making his team better?

Yeah I hope he doesn't come down here and start infecting our players with overachieving...

Actually, I was having fun with the absurd notion that a the word "overacheiver" was a reason for pause, but it's OK, he wasn't signed to start at MLB or OLB, so we both win.

It's all good...I can take the heat for the three others who essentially did the same same thing to you before I chimed in.

There you go, in sequential order. Your first post was perfectly reasonable and valid, nothing inflammatory or demeaning towards my expressed opinion in my first post.

But, the last one was overkill and that's where the "smug douche" reply came from. I got your opinion in your first post and respected that, but instead of discussing it, or even reading what I posted after that expressing why I said him being a "career overachiever" could be a negative if people were expecting big things from him, you piled on in the pie-fest.

So, my bad, although your "don't want him infecting..." comment was douchey and demeaning, BigBeast, Beasting Backs, and XClown were as equally douchey in their quest to get pie.

No biggie, you guys just took what I said out of context and ran with it for a good time.

I was simply saying, this isn't an amazing signing. A value signing, yes. But, the negative connotations, if there can be any, associated with "overachievers" in football, is that often means they're playing beyond their physical abilities, and it's hard to sustain that overachievement in a bigger role.

I'm happy with the signing for depth, but perhaps I'm a little bitter at how underappreciated Anderson was here and I would've liked to sign someone with similar physical abilities if we were adding depth at LB.

That's all.

No hard feelings. I just don't like when people take something like that and run with it mindlessly instead of discussing it or asking what I meant by it.
