Gross's new contract voids in 2014. OT now moves up priority list

I'm not sticking my neck out there and saying that we're making all these excellent moves and that we're going to be so much better because of our FA signings. But knowing our cap situation, understanding how we got in this hole, and realizing that we don't have much to work with...I think it's fair to say we've improved the team as well as we possibly could to this point.

Now we have some more room with Gross' restructuring. Let's see what happens after that.

So we lost Ron Edwards, a fat guy who did a decent job of taking up space all while only have 7 tackles in two years, not to mention the fact that he spend all of 2011 and the end of 2012 on IR.

Gamble, who played like ass while he was in for the year, and when he went down our pass defense steadily improved over the remainder of games.

Anderson, a slow ass jag OLB who sucked ballsack in coverage.

WE"RE DOOMED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. Patch jobs aren't improvements.

2. If you're cut by last year's Lions, that's not a good thing.

3. A safety from Oakland. Please re-read what you just said.

4. No return man will be dynamic if the other guys can't block for you.

5. Haha lowered the floor.

1. Dwan Edwards was a patchwork job last year and he was an improvement. Patchwork jobs with serviceable players are improvements...they're not long term solutions.

2. I'll give you that. But he was hurt all of last year so that's not a true testament to his ability.

3. Any S is better than Nakamura - you know that's true.

4. True...but to my entire point...it's an IMPROVEMENT. We're not getting worse like you suggested.

Have you already forgotten that we played almost the whole season without Gamble? Yes, Florence immediately becomes a starter for us.

We haven't even had the draft yet, seen any possible trades, or even gone through cuts. This poo takes time man. We are doing pretty well for being cap strapped.

and our D played quite nice without gamble...better even and we added to that secondary that did pretty well. we picked up a better SS and we're moving godfrey to FS where he should have been anyway.

also, ron edwards isn't that difficult to replace, esp. in this market. we picked up a good run stuffer in cole. we are looking at a defense that, even with it's meager additions, is an upgrade from last years top 10-15 defense.

We are a better team than we were last year, without a doubt. All the doom and gloom is complete bullshit.

Cam's a year older, Keek is a year older. They are our future.

We've cut unnecessary players (cap wise), and have added equal or better replacements. I don't see how anybody could be dissapointed in this offseason so far. The only thing i want to see is depth at OL and DT. If we do that, plus the draft, we are in great shape.

People often times forget how good this team is. We are changing the culture. We are bringing in vets to go along with our impressive young players. I have been ecstatic about how this offseason has shaped thus far.

No need in wasting a first rd pick on a left tackle this year especially since gross is wrapped up. If we can trade Gross then maybe yes, otherwise it wouldn't make sense to draft one to sit all year for next year.

This thought process is ridiculous. You don't pass up a ten to twelve year starter at LT because you have a 33 year old one for another year or two. You draft Lane Johnson play him at RT for a year and then move Jordan out to RT next year if he's still here....

im with accorrsi, Im not so sure about drafting O line early. Look at Byron Bell, he was undrafted and is developing into a very capable starter. Look at the Packers, awful O line but they are succesful because A. They have a franchise QB and they have a ton of weapons. I say load up on skill positions and draft a WR early and draft O line in later rounds

Bell is a marginal starter. He is far from a solid RT.

Dwan was that rare jackpot, but let's hope it carries over. Also, those six sacks could be helped by the fact that Edwards was there to take up space. sherrod martin was better than nakamura, and the raiders safety probably is at the same level at best. I wish we would have grabbed Huff.

Some are forgetting about Kearse, the NT on the team. He's in year 3 and that's about the point where most DT's start to either get it or are cut. He's got a ton of talent if he can put it together he would be a good starter at NT for what the team needs. Also Colin Cole might be another diamond in the rough type of signing.

DJ Moore wants to move to safety so he might get a chance to do just that with Captain resigning, the team is also filled with tons of young corners that will do nothing but improve and get better. There's a chance that Florence never gets higher then the 4th cb on the team and is just there to provide leadership for all the young guys.

Also Campbell played well when he was starting last season at SS and Godfrey while making too much plays better at FS then SS.

Ginn Jr. is an improvement on returns over what was in place last season as well, with the depth added in FA and through the draft ST blocking should also improve as well.

Right now I think Dockery is a starting CB with Florence and Norman splitting at the other CB position with Norman eventually taking over if he can become what we think he can be. Dockery has the size and has shown he is capable which is why I believe he'll be starting. Can't have all the munchins starting against all these 6'2 and 6'4 receivers. Munneryln and Moore will be the nickel and dime backs. Moore will also back up Godfrey at FS. Thomas will also see some time somewhere in there. Yea we could use a true starter, but with the way our cap was and the way Gettleman is handling things, we are not in as bad shape as we were at the end of last season.

At DT, I see Kearse starting at NT (even though he can play both DT positions). Fua might have to watch his back. If Cole turns out the way I think he is, Fua might get cut. The coaches are also high on Chandler.

The question is, is the 3rd best OT better than the 2nd best WR? Or CB? Or the top 1 or 2 safety?

BPA!!!!!!!!!!

Somebody posted this link in another thread. Look at what you were saying about Cam LOL
