I'm confused, some articles are saying his contract is done after this year, and now this one is saying it's a 3 year extension, which is it? If it's extension with him paid 5.5 this year and 1.9 the next 3, Gettlemagic.

Gross is a standup guy but this wasn't a favor he was doing for us. It was a business decision that was best for him and the team.

Gross took a paycut because he wants to stay with the Panthers and would not get more money on the open market. It's that simple.

I too am very happy with Gettleman and how he's handled the Cap and player decisions.

It's funny how some people were worried about the cap because of the Gettleman hire. And he's proved to be a genius compared to Hurney (who was considered a cap guy).

Basically he saved us somewhere between 3-7 million in cap space. Likely closer to 3 I think.

He signed an extension that can be voided by the player next year, the deal had a 4.5 mill bonus.

We prorated that bonus over the 4 years like so

This year 3.5

2014 500k

2015 500k

2016 0

So his salary cap "hit" this year went from 10 million to 4.5.

YES! Hooray for Saint Jordan Gross. He's the ultimte team player who not only deserveds a statue but will probably use what little money we forced him to take to feed starving children. (I heard he wanted to play for free but Jerry wouldn't allow it.)
