Gross restructured

Reed said his base salary was reduced to those figures not his cap hit. Most all his cap space was salary with little signing bonus. They likely added 1 or 2 years to the contract and converted salary to signing bonus. That will reduce his cap hit by several million but potentially create dead cap space on the back end. We did not save all that money and he didn't just take a huge cut. Get real people.

Restructures as in took less money or converted base to a bonus? or a combination of both?

Base salary reduced, but no mention of if or how much was converted to bonus. There is no way he simply agreed to 1/8 the salary this season.

On the surface that looks like a pretty sizable pay cut. Thank you indeed Mr. Gross.

I'll wait to see how it all comes out before I get too excited though.

Yeah I don't think he just voluntary taking 7 million less, its probably converted into a bonus.

Yeah, but he'll probably retire, get cut, traded or restructure again before those later years that we are pushing his cap hit towards. He is 32 after all.

Check out what someone on twitter said about it: Nick Mensio@NickMensio

All those extra years on Gross' deal in the NFLPA system are just dummy years to bring the 2013 cap hit down, then, it appears. #Panthers
