T. Austin < or = J. Adams

Who Said What?

Comparison is rediculous.

If you like another WR in the draft, that's understandable. Or you think we need another position at that pick, that's fine. Saying NO to Tavon becasue of some outlandish comparison is silly.

Then people say Ginn this, Ginn that. It's a one year deal, he's not the future. I think Gettleman knew our return game was terrible, and signed Ginn as a backup in case Tavon isn't there for him. It's possible.

Even tho i think Austin is gonna be a good player, i still scratch my head at how people think he is gonna be some unstoppable weapon in the NFL.I mean this is Pro football, there are ways to take anybody out of a game unless they player is just so physically and athletically gifted that they are hard to stop. And Austin is lacking in the physical department and he wont dominate off his speed. I guarantee it.

And then there are things like this that some how go unoticed

Vaccaro was able to cover Austin pretty well in that game and he is not even that fast and overrated to some people. But i will say again, its not that i dont think Austin is gonna be great player its just that i dont think he will dominate in the ways people keep claiming he will and i think we need some thing different than what he offers at a 14th pick overall. Thats all.

If Vaccaro did such a great job covering Austin, then how come Austin still had 10 rec for 102 yards?

If you had watched the game Vaccaro looked terribel except for a few plays.

I'm seeing tayvon being mocked higher than 14 on alot of mocks at this point. not even sure he will be around with the bucs needing a wr as well. That said this arguement is one of the worst of the summer. Adams might not even be on the team next year, comparing him to austin is awful. This guy has reggie bush like quickness out of his cuts and adams look horrible out of his breaks. I'm in on the take tayvon at 14 train.

I haven't read past page 3, but I just wanted to point out that ProSource made a comment about Tavon's 72 carries...

This alone describes how clueless you are about Tavon Austin. He's a CONVERTED RB. Pointing out his seemingly high carries for a WR to justify your argument when he had some SOLID WR numbers (better than anything Smitty did in college (not comparing the two, mind you... just an example)) is nothing more than a confirmation bias.

Returns not included, over the 4 year college career that Austin had, he averaged almost 11 yards whenever he touched the ball. He posted over 100 catches and 1200 yards receiving each of his last two years. This is also in an offense that had the pieces that are similar to what the Panthers offense has.

Austin wasn't even their main guy... the offense was pretty balanced over his career.

If you don't want an offensive weapon for your offense... go ahead and overlook him...

If you want an offensive weapon, there is a proven one for the taking in this draft.

I talked about his 72 carries to support my argument of why we don't need this cat. I know he is a converted RB and I know he should not get carries out of our backfield. We need a big #1 reciever, not a hybrid slot guy who our OC needs to gimmick up the offense for him to be effective. The draft is full of midgets with speed.

That's a joke, really? You show a video of Austin getting a 5-6+ yard gain, and call that being shut down? That's exactly how elite he is, I'll take a 5-6 yard gain on and end around any day. Especially since the guy tackling him is one of the top Safety's in the draft.

Its not his speed more so his agility and vision.

Tavon Austin is pretty amazing but I don't see how you guys think he's going to be so great for us. We need a future #1 WR and in my personal opinion we need one now. Austin is 5"8, and before you guys say Steve Smith, just realize that there has literally never been a player like Steve Smith. We can't assume that Austin is going to be able to play like him, to be able to beat double teams and carry an offense. We need a guy with great size and speed who you can be a reliable target, a redzone threat, and a deep threat.

We also just signed Ted Ginn. I think the better draft would be to take Richardson in the 1st and Justin Hunter in the 2nd.

Though I do really like Patterson I share the doubts people have for him.

He does not have to be our future number 1 WR to be great for us.He is a weapon, if he gets over 1000 yards who care if he is a number 1 wr or rb or returner. The guy just works great with a little space ....that is all it is.Other teams will have to account for him.

Says the guy who talked about physicality first with his tap on the wrist bullshit. Explain your point with evidence next time and not a cowardly internet moronic attempt to be derogatory hypocrite. I would like to repeat dumbshit for the cheap seats.
