Been watching Patterson highlights

If one thing I have learned from watching Cam is that having the best athlete on the field helps. Patterson is explosive with the ball in his hands. Not pretty good like Allen, explosive as in the Tavon Austin category. He played very well against the NFL B team (SEC). He is 6'2" which is good because our QB misses high. He is fast, which gives us a threat on the other side of the field to go to the house.

Also , first round picks don't cost what they used to. We aren't paying him a 40 mill contract at the 14th pick. Today's rookie scale allows you to be aggressive in your draft picks.

His hasn't shown that he can high point the ball or make jump ball catches. So that idea about him helping Cam on his high throws isn't a certain thing at this point.

Plus the idea about being the best athlete on the field is false.

1. Being the best athlete doesn't make you the best player.

2. There are a lot of great athletes on the field. So he might not be the best athlete on the field even 25% of the time.

JPP was called raw and went 15th a few years ago...worked out pretty well.

You're not getting finished products at this point and to assert that being "raw" is a reason to pass on a guy is nothing short of stupid.

It's not just the raw thing now. Scouts are questioning his ability to learn a playbook. His overall knowledge of route running and routes (meaning the ability to read coverages). And the constant body catching.

Now at 14 you have to teach a WR to be a WR.

It's a lot easier to teach a DE to rush the passer and stop the run. Then it is to teach a WR 9 routes. When to use the 9 routes. How to get off of a jam at the line of scrimmage. How to recognize the different coverages the defense is in before the snap. How to block. How to beat zone coverage. How to use your hands down the field. Then the Playbook.

so did CP. Cam is great, but Cam was also the QB who touches the ball on every single play. CP has proved to be threat to score whenever the ball is in his hands and one of the only people to score in 4 different ways. so not only did he break the SEC all purpose yards, but he scored in 4 different ways vs the top competition in college football.

So did Joe Adams but he was a 4th round pick.

Point is we need a WR now. Not a KR/PR. Not a RB.

Now did he dominant as a pass cacther? That is the question.

5'11 185 pounds 4.5= 6'2 215 pounds 4.4. he can play WR and has the potential to dominate as a pass catcher. so since Richardson didnt even sniff 1 tech, why would you expect him to play it in the NFL? you are willing to look past Richardson flaws but not Patterson's, why?

Because Richardson's Versatility will be used more then Patterson's. We have a KR/PR now so he isn't needed there. We have enough RB getting hand offs so he won't be used much there. We have a lot players that can run reverses so he won't have that job all to himself. What we need is a WR and he hasn't proven to be elite or top 14 value in that.
