Accorsi doesn't believe in taking offensive lineman in the 1st round

I think we are honestly looking at safety or wide receiver in the first round. Maybe defensive tackle, but I think it would take Star or Floyd slipping.

I know some people won't be happy about this but Kenny Vaccaro is exactly the kind of safety Rivera likes.

Ok, then they better find somebody that can play RG. Cause fug going into 2012 with Gross-Silatolu-Kalil-Hangartner-Bell. Our depth is G. Williams, Campbell, Ziemba, Byers, Austin, and Z. Williams (who hasn't been healthy in 2 years). You guys dismiss OL to quickly. A quality offensive line can fix a lot of issues.

Ziemba got sent packing.

You are 100% correct in OL being too low a priority on this board.

I have a feeling we're going to wait this out, maybe a decent vet gets cut after preseason.

SCP... They blitz the fug out of Cam last year because our WRs struggled to get open. We have no one to stretch the field... When we get a deep threat, blitzing will be less of an option for opposing teams.

If we had an o-line that could pick up a blitz or stunt then receivers could get open. Look at that Giants game again as an example. Our line got destroyed. Cam got hit in the pocket a ton last year, that's not a good thing.

Chicken or the egg I suppose. We are just gonna have to agree to disagree. Our line needs some attention.

FWIW I am for drafting o-line. the reason i posted this link was to discuss the merit of this strategy in relation to Gettleman's thought process. Is there any reason to believe he would have a different philosophy than Accorsi?

in a similar vein, Hurney liked to traded away future draft picks because his mentor taught him to do that. old habits die hard.

all these threads about how easy it is to find and develop OL are made pretty moot by the fact that our OL sucks. if it were that easy we'd have done it.

Yet again, the comments were made by Mel kipper who is apparently friends with accorsi and knows his draft philosophy in detail. Accorsi not only hand picked gettleman, but he also spent many years training him. There are many reasons to believe that gettleman would thus view the draft from a similar perspective.

Or, all those years he could have been thinking that Accorsi was doing it wrong.
