Kellen Winslow?

He played like 4 games with the Pats last year and was let go, didn't catch any passes.

But yeah he played with Favre in Minnesota and put up big numbers. Also played with the Giants before that, so Gettleman should be familiar with him.

Could have been great.....I think he is past his prime now though. I mean the Patriots tried him out and kicked him quick.

He asked to be released from his contract, not quite the same as being kicked. He was also very productive in the preseason, so much so that the locals were shocked according to the Seattle Times (and other sources).

If his knee and attitude are ready for football, then to me it's pretty much a no-brainer. He has the talent to surpass Shockey's production,

I don't pretend to be a master of offensive philosoph in the NFL, but it seems that plenty of people go to New England and underperform. Especially those that don't have a lot of time to learn the system. I think Winslow was shipped there and was kind of thrown in the deep end. I could be wrong.

he is obviously, at least somewhat interested if that report is correct

That's if the report is true.

Since the report comes from Winslow himself, there might be reason to question. He's someone who I don't think is above dropping team names to make it sound like he's drawing a lot of interest, even if he really isn't.

And yep, being reported now by Mary Kay Cabot that the Browns are not interested in Winslow and haven't reached out to him.

Makes you wonder if he was fudging a little with any of the other teams mentioned.

I was referring to Shaincoe in my post that you quoted about being let go.

I agree with your analysis of Winslow though.

I would think he joins Chud's traveling tight end circus in Cleveland, but I'd be pretty happy with him as a 2nd TE. He isn't nearly what he used to be, but he's better than our second receiving option at the position.

I thought he already burned bridges in Cleveland?

The guy was a elite talent at one point. why not. all you "good ole boys" need to get off your high horse. how could signing this guy for the min not be a good idea. He at worst is better than barney ever was. Upgrade?

Jerry Rice was an elite talent "at one point" too.

Should we sign him?
