Lame Duck Situation....

Just like in 2003 after going 7-9 in 2002 in Fox's first year, we all knew where we were going to be in march of that year. Yeah sure it won't be before 2015 because we all know that we will suck in 2013 and 2014.

We have the components right now to contend. It we follow in the Giants model with Gettleman, neither year they won the Superbowl they were expected to do much. They got on a roll late and Manning got hot and the defense played well. Thee same pieces we have in place outside of DT which got shored up somewhat with Edwards and will be solidified by camp.

Proclamations such as yours are premature and therefore lack crediblility.

I bet you were shocked, just shocked, when we didn't win the superbowl this season. For years I've been reading absurd ravings from people like you about how we are about to break out next season, yet we have been anywhere from mediocre to bad for awhile now. It is extraordinary that someone could dismiss predictions of mediocrity- which is just par for the course as far as we are concerned- as incredible and premature while at the same time purporting far less likely scenarios as being realistic and reasonable.

I dont think it's a lame duck sitation. I think JR is legitimately giving RR another shot. That's why he found a GM that would hang on to him. The fan base can't take another lame duck season and I don't think the players would either. They are trying to win for sure.

John Fox was also a no balls candyass who never adapted and wouldn't put the best players on the field. He can suck sh!t.

We did not find a GM, we promoted someone and JR told him he was clinging on to RR and those are terms he'd have to accept. A new GM is not going to hold onto a losing coach. What for? Gettleman finally got promoted so he doesn't care right now as JR probably is not holding him liable for much this year, but make no mistake JR has his hands in everything. GO back in history and no decision for this team was made without 'consulting JR first'.

Also Fox did not adapt because that is his theory. He did not expose weaknesses or take advantage of other teams. It's not like he just didn't want to adapt or had 'no balls'. his theory waswinning individual match ups 1v1, let the best prepared that day win- Fox's players had to outplay their opponent that is why he likes his vets and was horrible at evaluating rookies/new players.

Hard to say if this is a lame duck season. We would have to know JR and co. has any faith in him, or are just keeping him for whothefugknows, dare I say $ sake. Weird they didn't bring in new coaches when we got a new GM and when Chud left and I don't think RR has more weigh in for draft players are Gettle will. Most of the fans do not have faith, that is for sure. I think the players will be playing hard but I think they have been all along, yet we lose as if it's the coaching.

In the end it's about making the playoffs. No playoffs no more RR. Make the playoffs and don;t get slaughtered and I will fully welcome RR back to finish his contract.

I think it's definitely playoffs-or-bust for Rivera. Not a lame duck situation as others have stated. But as everyone knows we have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory over and over the past two seasons, and Rivera has to shoulder some of the blame.

I believe we have the QB and defensive playmakers to make a deep playoff push.

Yes I understand that. But that is exactly why he sucks and why he gets outcoached. It's too much of a gamble to expect each of your players to dominate their opponent. Our offense back then put way too much pressure on the players to make crucial plays. If we didn't get 5 yards on first down we were punting. Consistent 3rd and long is not key to success. He absolutely had no balls and he still doesn't have any balls, just watch his last playoff game.

Yes, hot seat not lame duck. Even though I was for replacing Rivera...I still believe he is learning. Gettleman said his job was to make everyone better. My guess he will be a lot more help to Rivera than Hurney was. I also assume they have reviewed a lot of tape together. I will be very happy if Rivera surprises us all.

I know that when I was saying it was a lame duck year that it was not 100% accurate, but the only reason I say lame duck is for 3 reasons.

1) all position coaches were being offered only 1 year deals. I am pretty sure that if Ron's team was preforming better that position coaches would be offered more years then what they were being offered.

2) all FA that we targeted that I read, were being offered 1 year deals. Even though it seems a lot of teams are offering one year deals now.

3) IMO, it seems that it would be easier for Gettleman to let this year play out, try to create a little cap space this year, and then next year it seems easier to tell players to take a pay cut or get cut to free up some cap space to make better moves in FA and extend the players that we want to stay Hardy and Cam..

Cap was offered a 3 year deal...wanted 1 yr. 1 yr deals are being signed throughout the league...a market thing. Easy to read too much into that here.
