How about we give Gettlemen a chance to draft before we know who is a bust or not. Remember Gettleman was one the Giants top scouters for many years. He help to draft guys like JJP and Justin Tuck and Canty. I think Gettleman knows what he is doing when it comes to drafting a DTs and DEs in the draft. Just wait and see what happens before you assume anything.

Did anyone say anything about KNOWING if a pick is a bust or not? Just said it was scary. Do not put words in my mouth. I never even assumed anything. Did you know that most GMs have experience in scouting and most GMs draft busts rather regularly? My point was about the history of drafting DTs in the first round-nearly half bust. Offensive linemen have a higher success rate. I am willing to bet you that Gettlemen himself knows that DT is historically a dangerous pick in the first round . If he sees a position of equal need on the board that has a higher success rate, he might go that route. Was I wrong to mention that? Why does that seem to offend you?

I think Fairley is well on his way to Bust Town. Fletcher Cox is too early to tell.

Phil Tayloy was dominant but he missed pretty much a whole season correct? Thats 50% right there so far lol.

My main issue is with Gerald Mccoy. He has in my opinion, been a Bust bc he cannot stay on the field. He was dominant the first half last season but missed 10 games in 2011. 3 in 2010. If Otah is considered a bust as a RT missing time then Mccoy being the no.2 overall pick is a flat out bust so far.. 2012 was a nice season

Dwan had a better season than Mccoy in 2012 and played 2 less games. We get better productivity from a waived vet than a number 2 ovr draft pick who was cant miss n took 3 years to develop.

Im starting to sour on the drafting of a DT in the first now.

I had the same thoughts but did not have time to do the research to argue. Good points.

I hope Colin Cole can come back and perform. He was never great but when he got to play with GB and Seattle, he did well. Hes def a BIG body.

he's basically the opposite of dwan. dwan = weak against run, strong against pass. cole = strong against the run, weak against pass

two guys that will be rotated in situationally, and i have no problem with that at all.

Nice. The question is, does DT become any less of a priority in the draft? Sure we re-signed Dwan, but do we feel the pressure to pair him with a stud?

no. we have studs on the outside. all we need in the interior are guys who aren't liabilities.

if we get a stud in the draft, then gravy, but it's not necessarily a need.

i think DT is one solid piece short of being set.

Gettleman was a pro scout when he was with the giants, wasn't really involved with college scouting. But I do agree we need to give him and the scouting department a chance to draft before we judge

You should do a little more research.
