Keenan Allen to work out with panthers April 9

If he beats out our squad of DTs, you're gonna have to deal with it. Cole, prior to his injury, was a very solid starter. So the probability of him being in the starting line up favors him as much as it does Davis (after three ACL tears).

OMG if he beats out FUA and Chandler he must be good.

Do you see how stupid that sounds?

Actually, pure number sites like PFF had our defense ranked in top 15 for majority of the year. We even reached 8th at one point (during the Cowboys or Bears).

And if you're going to play that angle, why exactly was our offense ranked in the top 5 last year again? Ahh, because of ground game you say? That can't be right. It would mean our offense is on shaky ground too.

Since Cam our Offense has ranked in the top half of the league.

This Top 10 defense still gave up 38 to the saints 27 to KC and 22 to a Philly team playing with their whole 2nd team.

Really the only team we stopped were SD after knocking out their RB and The Raiders after knocking out their QB.

But again you be fooled by the smoke and Mirrors surge at the end of the season. I have faith that Getts's doesn't think like you.

Smoke and Mirrors? I'd take my own advice if I were you. Without the rushing attack, our offense isn't a well-oiled machine. Case in point, 2012-13. Deny if you want but our offense didn't rank in the top ten this year.

Well, Gman doesn't think like you either. DT in NY hasn't been a top priority for years. They've loaded up on pass rushers, wide receivers, running backs and offensive linemen.

Again they just used 2 high picks on Austin and Joseph and they weren't paying Canty pennies.

So that is just a false statement. The Giants actual spent high picks and FA money in their DT's. No they didn't put a band aide over their DT position.

I don't see Allen being worthy of the 14th pick. Yes, he is a really good player that possesses great body contol and knows how to attack the ball in the air but besides that, Tavon Austin and Patterson blow him out of the water in every aspect of the game. He does not have break way speed, or elite agility like the other two. Most the time when he catches the ball he goes down easily. Plus he has been prone to miss games in his career compared to Austin who hasn't missed a practice in his collegiate career, but people always seem to hate on his durability.

I just got done typing this in another thread.

I have yet to see Austin catch a pass higher than 7 feet vertically. He rarely goes deep and seems to make all of his plays in space. You get him jammed up against an NFL corner on the outside and I don't think he will be nearly as effective.

Just not a fit for our offense. Cam throws a lot of his balls too high, so we need someone who can go up and get them.

Cam's accuarcy is also much better on deep routes than the short quick routes you'd have to employ to get Austin the ball in space to utilize his strengths.

So there's my brief rebuttal on Austin. Patterson I love the dude's physical abilities. The sky is the limit for a guy like him if he can take to coaching and learning a playbook. To see the field immediately as NFL receiver you have to do more than be able to run fast and catch the ball however. There has been plenty of reports questioning his ability to quickly grasp the other nuances of the game such as perfecting his route running as to not tip off the secondary. His ability to absorb and learn all the route's in an NFL sized playbook, etc.

Keenan has not shown the breakway agility that Austin and Patterson have but I do believe he's shown enough to be an effective # 1 receiver and someone who is the most polished/ready to see the field and make an immediate impact without being a liability.

Of the 3 most discussed (Austin,Allen, and Patterson). It can easily be argued by a large margin that Keenan had the worst QB and supporting cast of offensive weapons.

Austin had Geno, plus Steadman Bailey (the most underrated WR in the draft imo).

Then Patterson had Bray as his qb with other weapons like Hunter and that TE was not shabby either....and yes I Know Bray is just meh, but go look at Cal's QB and the difference is incredible.

That I did not want to type it again but wanted to share my opinion on why I disagreed with you. Calm down a little..those hormones raging are only temporary, you will grow it out of it.

I will not be overly upset if we draft Allen, i just think there is better options out there for this team at 14
