Keenan Allen to work out with panthers April 9

Keenan Allen is potentially the most pro ready receiver in this class. IMO, you'll known after his rookie year whether or not he'll be a good pro player, he's that ready.

He's got good size. Great hands. Excellent route-running ability. He can play outside, but he also worked in the slot a lot, and is great in the middle. His primary defect for me is overall athleticism, he's not a burner. But at the same time, he's not molasses. He's probably a 4.5 guy.

Overall, I'd take him although if we're going receiver in the first, due to depth I'd prefer to trade back a few spots if possible. He's not a dynamic playmaker per se, but he's a guy you can feed the ball consistently and have little doubt where he can handle it. He reminds of guys like Brandon Marshall, Marques Colston and Dwayne Bowe. I feel if we took him, we'd have a great, reliable receiver for the rest of Cam's career.

4.5 is fast...lol :phew:

4.2-4.3 is fast.......4.4 is avg speed........4.5-4.9 is considered SLOW for NFL guys, especially running backs and wide outs.

4.5 is not slow, it's average (and in turn, 4.4 is considered speedy). You generally only start getting considered slow in the 4.6 range.

Yeah people lose that Fact when they have SPEED SPEED SPEED on the brain.

They also don't notice that most of the Hall Fame WR weren't speed demons.

Chris Carter

Art Monk

Steve Largent

Marvin Harrison

Weren't all that fast.

Not sure about the others, but Harrison ran a 4.38 so your arguement is wayyyyy off. Also, corners are much more athletic now then they were in the era of the first 3.

Low 4.5 is avg. High 4.5 is considered below avg.

4.3 and lower are elite speed. 4.4 is good speed. But what people seem to miss is the speed demon guy bust out a lot more then the avg. To below avg. Speed but good route runner guys.

Show a link to that please. I've never seen Harrison have a 4.3 timed speed.

Harrison, who ran a blistering 4.38 in the 40-yard dash as a senior, was the 19th overall pick in 1996, part of the greatest wide receiver class in history, led by the No. 1 pick, Keyshawn Johnson. “If he were as outgoing and vocal as Keyshawn, he’d be in every magazine and every front page,” said Gil Brandt, the former vice president for player personnel of the Dallas Cowboys who is now an analyst for NFL.com.
