You would be mad if we drafted ____ in the 1st?

The fat linebacker-Sheldon Richardson

Kenny Vacarro

Desmond Trufant

Shariff Floyd

pointless to name all of the bad DE's, QB's, and LB's but they all suck.

You talk about my Prospect evaluation but all you can say about Richardson is he's a "Fat LB" really??

Very scientific breakdown there.

lmao @ erkle, margus hunt as a darkhorse because of gettlemans success with JPP....i honestly believe it would be a complete reach for him at #14, but if the best olinemen are gone, i like hunt better than any of the other de or dt prospects potential wise, and where else are you going to find a player with those kind of attributes?...there arent any!! JPP was considered a reach where the giants took him by most. just see having an absolute giant freak reserving as a dt, de, and athletic and big enough to hang with any te....and can potentially replace hardy if he walks....AND would be an instant threat against any kicking situation the second he steps on an nfl field....how is that a bad middle of the 1st round pick? we are dreadful, and gettleman wants big guys...dont get no bigger than hunt, or much more athletic for that matter!! would just rather have him on our team than having cam face him down the road. seriously dont think we'll get him, but i would be over the moon if we nabbed him, 1st round or 2nd. white boy has all the potential in the world, if he is a bust in the nfl, his position coach should be fired and banned fromt he nfl for life!! like his potential to add weight and play dt late into his career as well.

Rep for not getting all butt hurt and forming a cohesive argument for your opinion, but I just don't agree. I think he might pan out in the right system, but he is a huge project at the moment. He just didn't look like a football player from what I've seen of his videos. Looked like an athlete in football pads. Those don't usually work out. I'd be wearing a stink face if we took him in the 2nd, much less the 1st. One of those 3-4 teams at the bottom of the 1st could possibly get good value out of him, but all I see in him in a 4-3 at the moment is Cam Jordan (Saints).

completely see where you are coming from, and agree to a large extent....i certainly let the combine stats sway my opinion based on the footage i could find on him (i was on the poe bandwagon for a minute last year)...hunt is extremely raw. i just hope like hell we get a top offensive line talent....i suppose my want for hunt is a "might as well swing for the fences on this years biggest freak" mentality, if the best oline talent is gone at #14. i would be shocked if we dont get a lineman, but margus hunt would probably intrigue me more than any other player we could select at that point....but like i said, im on board with whoever we get. would be awesome if we got hunt and began to incorporate some hybrid 3-4 stuff with him here....we got a lot of work to do on defense, could see us making a gradual transition as we continue to add pieces over the next couple of seasons. anyways, i respect and agree with what ya say....i would be completely shocked if we chose hunt, just wouldnt be as pissed if i heard his name on day one of the draft as our pick as most panther fans would be :)

thanks for the rep bro, i definately think that erkle givin me a "wtf" look is on the mild end of what i thought would be said (and probably will be as more people read my lunacy and blast me) on the huddle after mentioning margus hunt and carolina's 14th pick in the draft in the same sentence....thanks for going easy on me :P

Hate you durn madden players wantin them sexy picks! Can't stand that high falutin offense! Draft warmack!!!

Panther fans are literally the only fanbase in the world that could go this long with one viable receiving option and still be resistant to taking another

another lasting gift from Fox

Is it just me, or do these two posts contradict themselves....

    • Strange, every news article and tweet I just searched all mentioned waivers. It is definitely his sixth year of at least 6 games. All I was trying to think of earlier was at the vet min could he beat out Bryce in camp next year lol. He's kinda got the old Darnold issue where he can obviously launch deep balls and qb run at a level Bryce will never achieve, but it sounds like he would be content being like a Josh Allen backup who doesn't throw the whole game plan out the window if he has to come in for a series or two. If we had him and for some reason still wanted to start Bryce he would kinda do what Justin Fields was doing the other night with Dangeruss, coming in for designed runs and maybe some play action/triple option rpo things to go deep. That would be so obvious and sad though. At least Russ can still sling it 40 yards in the air with a flick of the wrist
    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
