1. Let me make this statement. fug Rivera's doghouse. It's the strangest poo ever. How players get on it is a mystery and if he let's his doghouse get in the way of putting a talented player on the field. Then he won't be the coach for long.

2. Gettis has a few things going for him.

He's cheap.

He's young.

He has more upside then any WR on this roster.

Last not only is he a deep threat with track speed. He is a big target in the Red zone.

By the way Lafell is a solid number #2 Wr and untill Gettis is cut he still in the plans and has value.

It is very easy to cut him without any cap hit but they haven't done it yet. So somebody in that buliding may see the same value I see in him.

What you consider "solid", I consider decidedly mediocre (or gossamer). Here is a debate I had earlier:

Find me 14 other wide outs who put up nearly 700 yards and four touchdowns.

Eric Decker, Lance Moore, Julio Jones, Mike Williams, Victor Cruz, Justin Blackmon, Randall Cobb, Miles Austin, Ty Hilton, Jeremy Maclin, Torrey Smith, James Jones, Sidney Rice. Antonio Brown. Andre Roberts.

All i have put up better stats that you just stated and none are number 1 receivers. I can keep going if you want.

Easiest way to see who is right against who is wrong is go directly off of team's depth charts, not based off of opinion. So let's take a look shall we...

Julio Jones, Sidney Rice, Antonio Brown, Victor Cruz, Justin Blackmon, and Jeremy Maclin are all listed as one's based on teams depth chart's.

Well, since you are more concerned with being right, on a technicality, let me tell you that you are absolutely correct. You deserve a cookie. But... then let's take the earlier list and take the ones that apparently aren't technically listed as WR1s and add, Roddy White, Golden Tate, Mike Wallace, Hakeem Nicks, Cecil Shorts, and Desean Jackson. I suppose you think that LaFell can currently take his place among that number...?

I don't see why not, you have to remember that we had a tight end that took a lot of receptions/yards/touchdowns away from our wide receivers. If I'm not mistaken, Greg Olsen was third in receiving yards this year for tight ends.

Also, I wouldn't put DeSean Jackson on that list... just for reference.

To your first remark: Becuase LaFell has never consistently been able to carry his team like Roddy White, Golden Tate, Mike Wallace, Hakeem Nicks, Cecil Shorts, or Desean Jackson have shown the ability to do when their WR1 (as listed on the web site as you so correctly pointed out) was receiving double coverage, out, or just not having a good day. To be blunt, I would say that everyone other than Tate is a quasi WR1 (which is really the point), but even Tate is better than LaFell when you look at his impact on the team.

Regarding D-Jax, he logically should be included in the list. You do see what I did with the list, right? The list was really a product of your own making.

You guys are killing me with this LaFell is a solid #2 stuff. If LaFell is solid, I wonder why all these guys who are technically listed as 2s, or guys that we may think of as 2s are considered around the league to be overall better players, if not legitimate threats, and really make LaFell look relatively sub par when it comes to impacting football games. I'm just sorry; if you can't be highly productive---and I said highly productive---opposite 89 after your third year in the league, then you just aren't the guy to do the job. Even Tate put up 688 yards and 7 TDs. I bet most FOs would be knocking on Tate's door before LaFell's, so I wouldn't exactly call that a ringing endorsement as a WR2. This does not make LaFell a bad WR, it just means that he is what he is; a solid WR3 IMO.

If he is the most solid WR we got to complement Smitty (which he is), then we have a bleeding wound on the other side that needs stitches, but actually has Band-Aids.

The same old arguments and excuses about LaFell and Gettis are getting old and stale. We need consistent playmakers at the WR position, not guys on the sidelines, guys who make cameo appearances now and then, or guys who are souped up versions of Legs Naane.

he just about had less receiving yards the past three seasons (384 on 33 catches) than louis murphy did in 2012 (336 on 25). so he offers nothing to the offense.

Too many of you writing off Gettis. He had 500 yards and 3 TDs his rookie season with Clausen, Moore and Brian St Pierre throwing him the ball. I'm interested to see what he can do with Cam. I don't think he was ever in any doghouse last year, I think it was more of a precautionary thing with his knee and all. He should be ready to go at Training Camp this year.

1. He could have still not been right from his injury.

2. This coaching staff has shown that they don't always make correct judgement with the Depth chart.

Example: Leaguedoodoo starting over Lafell most of last year.

Legadoodoo....was there bc it was a new scheme and he had to line people up. It made sense. Even Smitty said Legatron had to keep him straight. He was an on field playcall instructor.
