He's not stupid and has to know the teams situation. So to me this is code for I wanna be traded. If we don't get rid of him at this point I'm afraid theres another diva in the locker room. I always liked hardy but he is making himself a disruption towards any team unity by doing this. So asta la vista asshole

what would the dead money look like at that point?

We would save.

I think.

From here, JD did good work here....http://www.derp/2013/3/18/4118964/reasons-not-to-sweat-the-panthers-2015-salary-cap

Accounting for 15% of the cap hit alone, Big Money is earning... well... big money. At this point he's a 30-year-old defensive end, and making way too much. This is the breaking point in the deal, one where the team can cut CJ with a June 1 designation, and reducing his cap hit to $3 million -- saving $13 million alone.

Players have only a few years to make enough money to last them forever. Why are they considered assholes for trying to get that money when you see teams jettisoning veteran contracts like its nothing? If you command the money, you go get it player.

Sure you can.

Say you have 5 million in space.

With increasing space every year....

Sign him to ...lets say 5 years 40 million. 20 guaranteed.

Year one Salary 2 million 3million prorated bonus hit cap hit 5 mill

Year two Salary 5 million 5million 10 mil

Year two salary 5 million 7 million 13mill

Year 4 Salary 5 million 2.5 million 7.5mill

Year 5 salary 3.5 million 2.5 million 6mill

I didn't add that up, but you get the idea.

You can toy with the salary and protation of the bonus to get it to work however you want.

That's why lots of 10 year deals are really 6 year deals or whatever. The prorate the poo out of the bonus and just take a cap hit when they cut the guy, saving his salary in cap hit.

this dude was 1st round talent before he got hurt at Mississippi. His agent is the best in the biz for a reason. They know Greg isn't getting paid until 2014, they are just letting it be known that Greg deserves to be paid with the big boys by this time next year. Panthers defense can get by with mediocre corners as long as they have End's and Backers.

It's usually a one or the other for most teams not named Seahawks. Look at Baltimore, they have no pass rush at all, but good secondary.
