This is probably a reflex to the rule set in place against the defense. They tell the defense they can't lead with helmet, etc, but then RBs will lower their head right into the defender, so I'm not surprised about this. If this passes, it'll just put even more emphasis on passing in the NFL. It's basically becoming Arena football.

Also, players that complain about the new rule, had to see it coming, because of all the other ex-football players that keep coming out about their injuries. NFL is trying to save face.

I just don't see how they can pass this.

They have the same rule for defensive players, yet, how many ball carriers/receivers do we see get injured every game as a result of a defensive player lowering their helmet and using the crown of it as a weapon?

So, now, you're taking away the only means of defense that a ball carrier has against those hits? If it passes, there will be a LOT more penalties and a LOT more injuries as well.

If this passes, you're going to see this penalty called 20 times a game. I'm sorry, but there is no way a runner is going to not brace himself for a hit. If they pass this, everyone is going to run like Stephen Davis of 2005, 2 steps then fall down.

It's okay. We might be able to contain AP this upcoming season
