I agree (i have to for my sanity) with the points CyberJag and P55 made.

I would even go so far as to say that Hurney was so desperate to save his job he signed players JR had mentioned as "good guys" and the types he hopes to attract to the Panthers.

We will see what is really going down over the next 18ish months, with how contracts are repaired, dolled out, and who said events happen to.

If we open up the season this year like we did in Tampa Bay last season I'm not going to be impressed

Rivera wasn't going to be able to being in a OC and offer him a good deal, he still 3 yrs in is sitting on a lately Fox era roster. GM also appear to be content slowly solving the Hurney issue and doesn't buy into what Rivera is doing with HIS best player

*sigh* these threads get old. If it were that easy to just "decide" we want to be good everyone would be.good.

I know the old argument of not having back to back winning seasons, but some of you jackholes act like the majority of the Fox era never happened.

People conveniently forget some of the injuries (specifically to Jake on a couple of occasions and Smitty) that was the real reason we didn't have back to back winning seasons not anything ownership did or did not do

It is easily forgotten that this team with JR+investors as owners existed before 2001. And all the sh*t the organization went through then! What is happening now is nothing, nothing compared to that.

Jerry's big mistake was how he handled the lockout and the team/coach prior to it. It's going to take years to get past all that. It took the 49ers 10 years to get out of their cap hell and they didn't win much while going through it.

The casual sports fan equates "success" to winning. Collegiate sports fans know only winning as being successful because the think college athletics are purely unpaid amateurs.

The sports fanatic, i.e, most people who post here and are far more involved in the game than simply tuning in on Sunday afternoons, equate success with both winning on the field and profiting as a business.

The vast majority of Panther fans have a lengthy history of being collegiate fans and, therefore, see a team that doesn't win and doesn't consider them to be a success. Consequently, most of them have gone back to watching collegiate athletics and couldn't care less about the NFL. Ask around, most sports fans are either college or pro fans- rarely do you see any casual fans who can follow both the pros and college.

The fan base in Charlotte is dwindling- most fans are returning to their college team(s) of choice and have given up on the pros. The remaining NFL Panther fans are becoming few and far between as the team continues to wallow in mediocrity while JR counts his money.

I have been saying this for years and years and years. It's not a pro team atmosphere at home games. That is why people "cheer" as they do, sitting quiet while on defense and cheering loudly while on offense. And why many, many people don't cheer at all (alumni aren't supposed to cheer, students are). And the Panthers seem willing to let it continue that way.

Jenkins got butt hurt after he signed a contract with us was hurt two seasons came back for one season and was a probowler and then demanded a new contact. We didn't give him a new one and traded him to the jets because of that.

Taking everything that Jenkins says gospel is ridicules, and a owner that has hundreds of millions of dollars invested into a team also gives his input on things from time to time and anyone here is shocked?

JR isn't Jerry Jones but to think he would be completely hands off is silly, he has too much money, time and effort involved to not be.

My biggest thing against Jerry was the 2010 season because that was his fault.

That was the fault of the lockout and his role in the situation. I think he had too much inside info to want to spend competively ecspecially when half the teams were in a spending frenzy without a cap. How much did Mcnutts go to washington for?

Forget JR and whatever theories we have about him being a poo owner. Dan Snyder is a terrible owner (i.e Albert Haynesworth and Rex Grossman) but the Redskins have seemed to turn around. I too blame Richy Rich for all the bumbles with the coaching staff after Fox left but you guys gotta remember,

IT IS EVERYONE'S FAULT WHEN WE LOSE.

End of the day even if JR openly decided he was going to change his involvement with the program or "play to win" more (which is a bullshit point anyways, of course JR wants the team to win!) it'll take more than just him changing to turn the team around.
