Yea their 40 times are similar but the 40 is terrible for determining real speed. I bet deangelo would beat stew by at least .2 in a 100m.

Still they are comparable for the most

What isn't comparable is what happens when a defender gets a hand on them

One thing I don't get is why people are so high on cutting deangelo. I'm a fan of the game so the money he is getting paid doesn't affect me at all. He is still a great Rb.IMO this year we will lean heavily on our rbs. I would hope to see a more balanced attack without running our franchise QB more than our rbs.

Yeah, last off season people said we would run the RBs more and Cam would be a pocket passer....

We didn't run Cam more than our RBs but he needs his touches...he needs him bc is a significantly more dangerous runner than anyone else can be.

I am a fan of the Panthers...so highly paid money to guys sitting on the sidelines impacts the caliber of guys actually on the field

that is true, however, we rarely get to see the opportunity happen with one of the two.

Really? Who is that. Stewart played a higher percentage of snaps than any RB in the division on 2011. Has been viewed as one of the most elusive RBs in the NFL for years now...

Stewart FINALLY misses a chunk of games 5 years into his career and people blow it out of proportion.

Its 2013 now.

RB's in the NFL typically rarely see success after their 30's... Stewart has been injury prone over the last 2-3 years and its concern because he has gotten older [even though he isn't 30 yet]. So his value is not what it was in 09' which is what we are currently paying for.

Okay...Williams is 30 now. Get rid of him now...and Stewart as soon as possible (which isn't now)

But I agree neither are worth what we pay them.

Oh ok. You do make a good point there

Wow, some posters in here don't know jack ****.

First of all, up until last year, Stewart had been our most durable RB. Williams has missed more games than Jonathan has in his career. So this "J-Stew can't stay healthy" crap is simply just that -- crap.

Second, Cam isn't a pocket passer? CRA, don't ever claim to be a Newton fan. If you even bothered to check Cam's stats, you would be aware that he spent more time in the pocket than RG3, Wilson and Kaepernick. He also obliterated Peyton Manning's passing efficiency record as a first year starter.

As for the Tolbert extension, fantastic. He's been our biggest free agent signing in years. Big Mike is a terror at the goal line.

I am one of the biggest Newton fans on this board...he isn't a pocket passer he is a dual threat. That means he CAN pass from the pocket but he ALSO runs. Saying someone isn't a pocket passer doesn't mean you can't pass from the pocket.

Manning is a pocket passer....Steve Young wasn't. Steve had more to his game

You're talking about a guy that eclipsed Peyton Mannings rookie record with his arm, not his legs. His legs should just be a bonus. The guy has a laser rocket arm, sure he needs to work on his accuracy, everybody does, but that's where we should be looking for going forward. His legs should always be a bonus.
