I wouldn't doubt that. He could likely recoup the lost base salary in the form of a signing bonus.

They said that the problem with that is because they had to release him, it has it's own cap implications, so they might not be able to bring him back for the same money as they would still have the cap hit, basically making it like they never cut him for cap purposes

His release accelerated signing bonus money spread out over future years to this year's cap (to the tune of 5M). Denver would have to give him that money as a signing bonus in a new multi-year deal.

I don't know, but I have a feeling that whoever was in charge of filing it within the Broncos front office will also be 'released.'

It is possible he could land in our division, though the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that the Saints are, at least at this point, not "actively pursuing" him.

I'm surprised he even accepted the renegotiated contract. Big pay cut and it was set up so he would inevitably be cut next year. Now he can get the 4.9 mil the broncos still owe him plus his new contract that will more than make up the difference.
