How did it get this bad?

I just do not understand, like was it Marty that horrible, or was it JR trying to not be called cheap. If you where Marty 2 years ago, you HAVE to let D-Will go to Denver you HAVE to. There is no bullshit excuse for this. Now I see the 49ers keep getting better with all there team being pro bowlers and we suck? No upgrades, just downgrades. Do you guys not understand this is bad. We will be ripped to shreds by BETTER teams in the NFL. When I say better I mean 28 other teams. Rivera you're done dude. See ya. As for those bull poo winning streaks at the end of the season? Don't bother you're out for good so just let us tank like the Bobcats.

I think we are still feeling the effects of 2010 when Jerry tanked the season on purpose. It's taking a long time to rebuild from that. And we are hurting from Hurney's contracts.

As far as JR not being cheap, that is a good thing. Any team that is going to make a playoff run will be relatively close to the cap. We just spent on the wrong talent.

I agree we need our winning streak to start early next year.

That pie chart conference was absolutely the worst idea in the history of man.

If you need any tell tale sign that Richardson is stubborn, it's that right there, because I can not and will not accept that there wasn't a single person in the PR department who didn't bother to say

"Hey, uh, Mr. Richardson, maybe it's not such a nice idea to go out there and discuss the importance if your revenue after you just obliterated the season to save some cash."

We have a good young quarterback, 2 great pass rushers, a good tight end, 2 good runningbacks, a great receiver, and a number of good linebackers. There's work to be done, but we are better off than a lot of teams. If you want to be the 49ers, you have to remember how they got there, and that was years of drafting well and high, not free agency.

We have a franchise QB, an elite MLB and several great players at key positions (Kraken, CJ, Beason, Smith, Kalil). Add some young players who I see will keep progressing into next season (LaFell, Norman), and we aren't in that bad shape as some other franchises.

We aren't top either though.

I'm pretty sure Gettleman has a plan in FA. Every day, the paychecks for some positions we have big holes (CB,S) goes down. With our cap situation, we just have to wait a bit longer, and get the best available FA for the lowest check possible.

If we are able to bring in capable players (not superstars at a ridiculous paycheck) at the positions of need, add 2/3 key draft players, I'm pretty sure we will be quite solid next year.

I agree we are playoff caliber. Unfortunately so are ATL and NO next year. Not sure about TB.

But if we are losing close games due to bonehead coaching and dumb plays again next year look for a new coaching staff.

Why is this necessary? Is there a reason being a D*ck is necessary?

Being a dick is not necessary and neither is starting a thread identical to over half the threads started in the last 36 hours.

    • Just had Thanksgiving meal with a couple dozen family and friends. I lucked out and got one of the smoked turkey legs. Stuffing, mashed taters and gravy, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, kale, smoked ham, chicken and rice, corn, lima beans, cranberry sauce, and great people. My brother got his guitar out and we got to singing. Lots of actual conversations with people I hardly  ever get to see, haven't seen in a while, or who I never met before. Just a great moment to remember.
    • 3-8 would be a higher win percentage than 3-9
    • Same... With the personnel the Niners had, that defense could have been historically good in the right hands. Under Wilks they were certainly good, they didn't quite rise to that level. Honestly, I see Wilks kinda like I see Rivera: fantastic person, decent head coach. Skill wise, phenomenal DB coach, so-so DC. His greatest strength is his leadership. Hard to find many better in that department. In the Xs and Os / execution area though, not as good. Bottom Line: Wilks is the sort of coach that needs a staff that excels in those aspects of the game where he's weaker. But, like Rivera, I don't know that he scouts assistants very well. That as much as anything might be why he's not in the NFL now.
