So I am watching the original Superman and am wondering why Supermans parents just let themselves die with their planet?

I mean they had super powers, they could fly, etc... Why the hell didn't they just relocate from their dying planet? They could all have just flown away to another planet, just makes no sense.

Superman only has powers on earth because our sun is yellow - whereas Krypton's is red. It's the 'source' of his powers on earth. On Krypton they wouldn't have had any powers.
