Would a slot or outside receiver help Cam the most?

Cam needs a big ass WR that he can just chuck it up to in the redzone... accounting for Cam's QB draw AND that big ass WR would be an absolute nightmare!

Talk about some play action if we get our run game going and stop running out of shotgun like panzis..

Smitty would he a very nice slot guy..

Why have two slots?

I like Tavon but Smitty is more of a mismatch in the slot in my opinion cause of his strength. Defensive backs really try to press you within that first 5 yards. Smitty has strength quickness and NFL moves off the line to get into his routes. We need a new number 1 receiver with size to run those deep routes not Tavon.

Tavon will be a playmaker in the NFL - no doubt. But not sure he's the best fit for Carolina.

What we know about the QB here is he throws the ball high and hard. He consistently overthrows RBs out of the backfield and Smitty on the slants. All of these guys are under 6'. If Tavon can't get vertical and catch Cam's lasers with his hands, then he won't reach his potential in Carolina. I think Cam needs bigger, surehanded targets and an oline that allows him to go through his progressions. Think the focus should be on what fits Cam Newton, not what could help the Panthers - if that makes sense.

We need a true #1 take the top off the D WR. Not another slot guy. Getting a WR to allow us to move Smitty to the slot would be the ideal scenario.

Also, Cam himself said that his game took off when he learned to trust his check downs. Just because he has a big arm, too many believe he has no touch. Hard to believe a Panther fan cannot see this. Well, maybe not so hard to believe after all.

There aught to be some sort of penalty for coming into a whopping 3 whole page thread and asking "Has this been noted yet"? Don't be so damm lazy, read the thread before you reply. Damm kids.

Lastly. Gettlemen has stated he likes TD makers. The Giants don't have any smurfs on that WR corp. What makes you think he will draft a smurf for this team?

I think over the next few years, and after Smitty's innevitable retirement, Austin would make a great addition.

Only other WR I'd possibly take over Austin would be Patterson because of size and the different deep, big ass threat he would be

With Smith on the field, a big WR is appealing. Without Smith though...

There is no Smitty 2.0. But I'm thinking future years when I say go with Austin.

That being said, I want Patterson equally if not more.. I just don't see him being available at 14

Think Vincent Jackson.

That is what this O needs.

Remember when Jacksonville had like "3-4" 6 footer receivers? Look at Seattle. They probably have the smallest group of receiver last season, and especially now with Harvin. Its not all about size. I just want football players. Just give me football players.
