"Smart Money" and what'd you want to see?

Free Agency Frenzy has ended. There are a bunch load of really good guys still on the market. The "smart money", smart contracts, and bargaining is set to begin shortly. In the next few days, we'll learn if Gettleman can do what we all thought he was brought in here to do. That is, bring in guys on the cheap, fill the needs on this team, and put us in a situation to compete for a Championship.

We're slightly under the cap,but that's not the problem. We can still go after who ever we want to. It's all about "if" we want to. What are some moves that yall would like to see happen in the upcoming days?

Me:

1: Resign Dwan Edwards

2: Sign Kenny Phillips SS

3: Sign Roy Miller DT

I really want to go after a DT (Floyd, Star, Sheldon) at no.14 in April, because we have avoided that position for years. But, I also want the BPA. We're so bad in the secondary and Drayton Florence isnt going to cut it. By retaining Dwan and adding Miller, we'll have a really solid interior to let Kuechly roam the field at ease. In this case, we can take a really good 'corner' (Desmond/Rhodes) at no.14 and a TD guy at 44.

I'm not as worried about the secondary as some people are...they played well towards the end of the year. But I don't think Florence is the answer, even in a nickel back role. I'd also like to see a veteran safety on a 1 year deal or something. The main problem areas that worry me are the OL and DL. A veteran right tackle would be awesome and Dwan and a vet DT would be a miracle. Doubt that happens. Don't really want to see us HAVE to pick someone at 14, like to get the BPA too.

Chuck for a change I agree with you completely, these are actually three moves I would love to see as well as a high draft pick at DT to solidify our front seven.

I would however rather see Warford as the pick at 44 if he is there in the second solidify the trenches on both sides of the ball.

i would love this alot. but as of now i just dont see it happening. i really dont. i think were just going to keep signing washed up players. but what you have listed would have us in the playoffs probably. rhodes wont make it pass miami

Milliner will more than likely be heading to Detroit.

Bucs will have the chance to pick between Rhodes or Trufant. I only see three cbs going in the top 15, thats if we were to pick one.

A lot depends on how much cap space we have, right now we don't have enough space to even sign our draft picks whoever they may end up being, talking FA before we have cap space is like talking about the next summer in the middle of October, doesn't mean summer isn't coming this way but right now it's a way of and still have winter to get through before we get there.

And that's where the panthers stand right now, talking about free agents without any cap space to sign anyone.

preciate it bro.

I would love Warford at 44, but as of now Hangman is still on the roster.

I think we can still find a good OG to groom into the starting role in the 4th. but thats my opinion.

Money isnt the problem. We can almost sign anyone we choose to sign.

Denver didnt have a lot of cap, but somehow they ended up with Welker, DRC, Bradley, and Knigton yesterday. Its if Gettleman want to. And all the guys I mentioned above are guys we could get at a really good price.

I agree with you about that, I was thinking more on immediate terms Warford would improve our push a ton immediately.

I think Silatolu-Kalil-Warford in the center of our line would help bring back our power run game.

your Denver example is silly they were $16m under the cap as of march 1st so I'm not exactly sure where you are getting this Denver had no money thing from.

We were $3.04m under the cap last I saw, we would need at least $7m to sign draft picks and that's not counting any additional FA's we may want to sign/ camp fodder we will need to sign so think of it as if Carolina is still $5m over the cap would give a more accurate understanding of where we are currently.

Not saying your ideas are bad, I actually like them. But we don't have any cap space to sign your grandma much less a FA worth a damn.

Just saying
