..And just like that... OLB is a huge need.

I love how ivantheawesome tries to emphasize how important it is to have like 40 starting linebackers on the roster with these doom scenarios when at least we have starters there to begin with, in contrast to like the safety position where we haven't had a starter there for at least the past six years

I love how he was a Hurney ball sucker, and now Hurney is gone it is ok to hate him.

you don't use your first-rounder on a safety net

I think we should sign Steven Jackson for 5 million. It would make me feel better if Williams, Stewart, and Tolbert all got knocked out. Remember 05, we could have won the Superbowl if we hadnt ran though 3 RBs. That proves you need four. Anything less and you are dooming your season.

See Luke Kuechly. Kthnx.

keek wasn't really a safety net though. we needed a guy that could start at MLB with beason and davis huge unknowns at that point.

beason is still a relative unknown but i expect we'll get a full season out of him as well as davis. at this point LB could be a liability but it's not enough of one to warrant spending a first rounder one what could end up being a season-long backup, especially when we've got such massive holes in the secondary and deep needs on the offensive line.

i agree it needs to be addressed, just not with the 14th overall pick.

Last year we were stacked at LB, Beason was like you said, unknown at that point. It just happened to be that Keuchly was not only a safety net for us but the BPA too. Make no mistakes Had we not taken Keek, we'd be in a poo hole, well, a bigger hole that we are now.

Same situation different year. Now the mike is set, but the OLB position isn't. Senn, williams and whatever other scrubs aren't to the talent level that Anderson or Phillips were. I realize that paying Anderson those 2.5 mill was a luxury but he made it work, whenever he was needed he was there and he was efficient.

No one saw it coming last year. About the only other position that would help is the DT position, getting a young tough DT to put pressure and let Keek run around like a mad man would be just enough to where in case beason or Davis go down, the next guy up won't have to try too hard or be that great.

Matt Barkley anyone? What if Cam goes down? He is going to leave after next year anyway, by then Barkley will be ready to go. I don't know what we do for our other 15 needs, but I would hate to get burned by this.

I would fire gettleman on The spot if he drafted barkley to replace cam.
