Hell no. We are not taking a LB first round. There is no justification for it. Not when we could potentially take Elam to help the secondary or Milliner or actually put a damn playmaker next to Smith like Austin or Patterson.

If I recall, Senn filled in at MLB for Beason when he went down before we drafted Keachly. I did a a good good job and that is one reason we brought him back. the other reason is for special teams. If we can pick up a DT, our LB position gets much better.

That can be said about any position.

But, in today's salary cap world (where your top players cost a fortune), you CANNOT afford to pay starter money to back-ups.

Its a need but mid round..cheap bet need. Shaun Phillips is out there as is a ton of other lbers that are above avg. this market is saturated and teams are going to find playeres taking chap 1yr contracts to play for next season pay.

Mid round potential like a James Anderson type lber is good enough to get in the 4-6th.

that's one of the reasons that i want a big safety rather than some sub 6' guy.

you need a big safety covering the big pass catching TEs.
