The only cheap ways to replace Gross, if you let him leave, is through the draft or a lower level FA. Neither of which would be considered optimal choices.

The savings we would see from parting ways with him is minimal. Not nearly enough to replace him with someone with similar talent. So I would expect hiim to be here next year, but I would not rule out some contract finagling. He will do what he can to help us out, but taking money off the table would probably not be one of them.

Replacing Gross with lesser talent is counterproductive to our plan. He either returns, or we replace him with decent talent. The latter option costs the most, but if we lose Gross it may be the only option.

If we want a top level LT to protect Cam's blindside, we have to be willing to pay for it. Whether that is with Gross or a rookie, we are going to pay either way.

Cam needs a better O-line to give our receivers more time to get open. We need to draft the best LT we can and move Gross to the right side. He has slipped a little and only has one more year on his contract. He can finish his career here and improve the right side of the line and Cam gets new protection to his blind side. Win-Win !

Nothing wrong with Bell who costs far less, why dump him? How long since Gross has played the right side?

We have bigger holes to fill, and I don't want to think about a new OT leaning on Amini for help this early.

Big picture that is fine.....but 2013? That will stall our offense and put Cam at risk.

We should draft a diverse kid, put him on the Gross path....have him replace Bell then move him to LT.

That would if you drafted a T....which I don't support doing such high in this draft. LT isn't a hole for 2013...we have tons a holes.
