Panthers cut James Anderson

hahahah....right again....told yall that panthers needed to draft a olb......lol i might be an insider.......

they needed to get better at that position with emergence of tight ends(tonyg and jimmyg) that can catch. also they sucked vs the run badly.

olb have to be able to run and cover.

they need to get younger at the position.

He did have 1.4 x 3 left cap hit wise in signing bonus money. Thats 4.2 million total.(this is now dead money)

He had a base salary of 2.9 million and a 100k workout bonus taking it to 3 million total in salary plus the 1.4 million in signing bonus allocation for a total of 4.4 million.

So as an immediate hit it saves us $200k (4.4. cap hit - 4.2 dead money) or as a June 1st cut we can split the 4.2 over 2 years. If split evenly thats a savings of 2.1 million this year and 2.1 million dead next year.

True, I forgot to include the bonuses on this years salary. Than it makes a lot more sense.

Thanks.

i believe you did but i could be mistaken. i was just looking for the quick answer. so long story short if he is designated as a june 1st cut we save 2mil in cap space after june 1st and 200k now. is this correct?

Yes and Yas just put it up on his nfcsouth espn blog as well too. Same exact thing I said if you want an official source.

I bet he isn't a June 1 cut and this is just more of Gettleman fixing the "mess".

Agreed. I think he's decided to just take his lumps this year. He isn't tied to Rivera and if releasing a bunch of guys will cripple our cap this year, but set it up for the future, what does he care?

Next order of business:

"Hello, Garry Williams? this is Dave Gettlemen..."

"Hello Jeff Hangartner? Dave Gettlemen here...."

Was just going to start a thread on this. Technically I think the next move will be announcing a Gross restructure then cutting 1 or both of those guys.

They are the last 2 logical cuts that could be made. I only forsee one going. Do we keep Hangman who can play guard and center or Williams who can play guard and tackle?

My money says Hangman goes and Willliams stays.
