Why can't we ever just make a splash?

I still say you're all wrong. Cam will never be more healthy and he will be in the next 2 to 3 years. You need to make these huge moves now not in a few seasons. The window is now.

So EVERYONE else is wrong except for you? Hmmm

Maybe that should be your first clue that you are likely the one that is wrong.

In the last two offseasons we've traded for Greg Olson and signed Mike Tolbert, while retaining our top free agents in DeAngelo and Charles Johnson. That's not too bad. And we let guys that wanted big money but didn't deserve it take a walk (yeah, we're looking at you Richard Marshall).

Gettleman has already made it known that he comes from a background that discourages big free agent signings.

Huge free agency moves do not run parallel with success. More often than not the teams that are the most active in FA end up quite the opposite, and that's because they are trying to make up for their drafting deficiencies.

We will make a move, probably more than one. This is Gettleman's first year so saying "The Panthers do this and that and herpyderpfugingdah" is quite literally retarded. We've never experienced a Gettleman free agency period. You have no basis for comparison, so quit being a moron.

Do you think I would be whining if we would actually make a bold move?

You are a god awful whiny bandwagoner who hopped on when we drafted Cam...

Apparently you don't understand that we are already in for cap hell next season and thats not even taking into account Hardy or Newton extensions.

Next season's cap hell is greatly misunderstood.

Lots of those big contracts from HurneyStock 2011 can be moved out of town.

I think ;)

Getting good value with mid-level FA's is a good way to supplement your roster (guys like Dwan Edwards for example) but winning teams are built through the draft. Gettleman knows this and won't be signing any big name expensive free agents. But I expect some lesser known players to be signed and for him to hit a home run with a couple draft picks.

I agree with you on a few, Williams is probably a goner next season, Godfrey too...

Beason if he can't stay healthy and play at a high level for 16 games.

Even if we cut them we are still going to have a ton of dead money, you have to figure if Hardy continues his play he will get a 10 million dollar contract or more, and Cam will get at least 14.

A free agency splurge is not a good idea.

Agreed.

But the bright side of all this is after next season the "worst" of Hurneyfest will be behind us and we can start contending.
