Tavon Austin

First off, you guys act like slotwr is the only way or the best way to strategize on a team.

I guess Dallas Clark was trash with Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne on the outside.

I guess Brandon Stokley didn't help win games because the middle of the field was wide open due to Marvin and Reggie making safetys play off. Which sets up mismatches if the olb is not a good cover guy.

Many teams have won the supebowl without a star slot, never seen many without a star deep threat.

Of course people bring up Brady, he was caught with spy gate and David Givens, while not a star, had an 18.5 avg.....that's a deep threat.

Also you guys act like you have to this super sonic speedster at the slot position, which is untrue. Welker only runs a 4.6, and he also was an UNDRAFTED FREE AGENT.

Dont't know why anyone is trying to spend a first round pick on a slotwr when there is clearly no need to, since they are just a pawn in the bigger game to score.

Also Brady never won the Superbowl with Welker used as a strategy. Also, Welker and Percy are very tough. Tavon is a little small which cause me too wonder if he can take constant punishment. You can't run out of bounds to avoid tackles while catching over the middle!.

Also, I don't know if you guys have been to NFL.com, but they are reporting that the NFL as a whole, does not really value slotwr. That's why guys like Mike Wallace get big pay checks and sotwr get chump change like Welker.

Now if you offer me a slotwr that can do both like Victor Cruz, then I'll be all in. Victor ran 50 percent of snaps from the outside and the rest from the slot.

He also has a Superbowl on his resume, hmmmm, wonder who he beat out?

See most people don't know that there are 3 different type of slotwr, but I'll go into that later.

You're still looking at Austin as a slot wr.

Bc he is a "slot" receiver and will be best utilize as a slot receiver. He's no 89.

Corners are getting bigger and bigger. Just look at this upcoming draft in April. Milliner, Rhodes, Banks, Desmond, and Amerson are all 6'0 or taller. You dont want a 5'8 receiver playing on the outside just bc he has some speed.

That is a sad reason not to take him (we do not use the weapons we have). You cannot ignore his accomplishments and film compared to patterson. He is more than just a slot receiver and has the ability to move outside. He is a Sproil and harvin in one package

So it's a sad reason to want to see the players we drafted in the "LAST 2 Years" used. Before we draft another player that is suppose to do the same type things??

Really??

Hey fellas it's me Joe the guy you were excited about last year. I'm still here don't give up on me yet. I can do the slot and special team exciting plays as well.

I love that boy. I still haven't forgot about him. He's going to be something special. He will be a tremendous Returner. Could def be a very good slot receiver.

He was somewhat the better receiver out of the three draftees outta Arkansas last year. Greg Childs had huge potential but had a serious injury. Hopefully he can recover from it. And Jarius Wright played damn well in the few games he got to play. I know Adams can have the same impact if he can just get out of Rivera's dog pound.

That was the point Chuck. Why draft a guy at 14 when we have a guy we drafted "LAST YEAR" to do the same thing. To bad Chud was a dumb ass who couldn't find a way to get this guy more chances on the field. Or Rivera has the dumbest Dog house rules. Naka gets to fug up a lot and everybody else has to be inactive.

Yes really......they are nowhere near the same player. If they are one in the same the stats sure do not show it. Austin had over 1200 yards receiving to Adams 600 and add another 640 rushing.

Joe Adams and Tavon Austin are NOT the same guy.

They are just both under 6 ft tall and returned kicks.

There was a reason why Joe fell to the 4th... Avg speed, stroke. It wasnt like the wrs in the draft were all world for three rounds.

So they wouldn't play the same position and do the same type plays right?

So we're not going to use the different offenses they played in. The difference Conferences (Big East, SEC) and the fact that Adams played with 2 other WR's and a TE who got a lot of touches when we talk about the differences in stats?

Yes, and like i said there are 3 different type of slot wr.

Tavon is of the Wes Welker Cloth......

I would consider him as an deep threat, but his avg per gain suggest other wise.......12 yards per gain is not a DEEP THREAT.

Desean Jackson had an 18.2 avg in college. He showed that he could beat coverage down field on a regular basis.

SHOW ME WHERE TAVON GOES DEEP, ON A REGULAR BASIS IN ONE GAME OR MULTIPLE and i will change my mind.

If Tavon could go down field, WHY DID'NT THEY USE HIM LIKE THAT in COLLEGE????

Oh I forgot, he had a terrible QB that couldn't get him the ball down field.............(lol)

I agree. Point is unless we are changing our offense to a(west coast or Patriot) type offense where we feature a "Slot WR" then why would we pick 1 with a top 15 pick? Are we really a team in position to take a specialty Player that high? We will still be running the ball a lot and Austin isn't a guy who will be able to block on running plays. So that cuts your top 15 pick off the field for 45% to 50% of your offense.
