Chris Gamble to Retire

TBQH - I was a little dissapointed we didn't try to work something out to retain Gamble, but after reading this it makes me feel 100X better about the move.

If Gamble is serious about this retirement, it just proves his heart wasn't in the game anymore.

Actually that's not the only reason someone in his position would retire. He may not have wanted to uproot himself out of the area to move to another team, doesn't mean he wouldn't have played with us in 2013. He certainly didn't look like he was mailing it in the last two years he was on the field.

Wow. Well, he always seemed to dislike the business of football. Good luck in retirement.

He dislikes it because he is one of the baddest men in the world and no one knows his name outside of NC. He was sadly overlooked his entire life because he was a Panther. National media being the sensationalists they are, would never prop up a guy like Gamble because there just werent dollars in it.

Furthermore, its obvious that Goodell, the refs, and the fans of the NFL are no longer interested in seeing a fair matchup between receivers and corners. Everyone apparently just wants to see touchdowns.

aaaand you know, we should cater to the stupid people. . . Its been a trend for about 20 years now. Every president we've had has made that a mission recently.

Im not sure Im going to be watching football 5 years from now. . . Im really not.

Thanks for taking things out of context like a typical member of the huddle, why don't you quote the full post so you don't look like such a dumb ass.

Maybe you can explain how retiring before he got cut was going to "help out the Panthers."

I'll wait right here.

As a lot of other people thought, we would save his entire 11M instead of just 7M, that turned out to be incorrect; I didn't have time to edit the post so I just left it.

If you scroll on further down I even questioned, why don't we resign him so he can retire as a Panther?

He's been in the NFL 9 years. How long does he exactly have to play before he can retire so people don't make dumb comments like this.

Mike Rucker retired when cut after 10. Mike Minter the same after 11. Is one year the barrier before you can be allowed to retire?

Why do people fabricate such stupid crap

Didn't mean to hurt your feelings... But yall are delusional if you think his last 3 years have been above average. He was a great panther for us for a while but its time to move on. If you want our team to get any better, dont make dumb comments like that. you sound like marty hurney.

I don't think many people (if anyone at all) here disagrees with us cutting him. We all agree it was a necessary move. I think some of us are more astonished by the hate he is getting, or that he somehow owed the team something so he should've retired instead or something.

Again, the move had to be made. But the fact that he was quietly one of the most solid players in franchise history, it's a little bittersweet that he is going out with such little fanfare. With that being said, it seems an appropriate way for him to go with how quiet he was and how he just went about his business of being a PROFESSIONAL football player. I emphasize professional because Gamble was always that, and many of today's players are far from it.

When you can give me the number of TDs he has given up or games we have lost because of him in the last three years then you can convince me.
