Past free agent moves you've loved (or hated)

So as we get ready to start this year's free agent period, thought I'd take a little trip down Memory Lane. Specifically, via these two questions:

Do you remember a free agent move from the Panthers past that you absolutely loved, but that didn't actually end all that well?

On the flipside, do you remember a move that you either disliked or were just indifferent about that actually reaped decent benefits?

Was high in the Kemo signing, thought he would shore up our run defense for years to come. Instead IR took him out before he could get started in Season 1. Never did alot beyond that before he went back to Baltimore.

Hated the Keyshawn signing because of the Meshawn and past his prime, ended up being a great #2 when we were obviously missing Moose for a couple seasons. Both Key and Moose (2nd sign) didnt end up well in the end though as we should of held onto them longer.

If I remember right, Kemo and Justin Hartwig were signed the same year, and they're the only "midnight signings" I recall in the team's history.

One I loved that didn't end well, from a team standpoint, was Keyshawn Johnson. I just knew we were Super Bowl bound after this move but we all know how that season ended. Key actually played well as a #2 WR.

Two that I didn't know what to expect but turned out pretty good was Marlon McCree and of course, Jake Delhomme.

Whale was good for atleast 3 seasons, if you liked Ken Lucas since you left him off the list its a pretty simular career here. Wahle was a probowler and Kenny should of been. All moves made when the Panthers were still playoff contenders under Fox. I think the failed free agents signings scared the Panthers off still to this day though. Maybe Gettleman will be differnt if we start having good cap space in the future.

Gettlemen is a talent evaluator. He knows exactly what a guy is worth. I have little fear that he cannot stock this team, and do it without putting us in a fracking hole.

Plug the holes and draft well. The school of thought for success. And that is exactly how Gettlemen was taught. The fact that his philosophy meshes well with Rivera's, just makes it that much more exciting.

Got carried away with the Gettlemen and forgot to actually answer the OP. Oops

I thought the Key signing was a mistake. But I will give Key credit. He was a pro for us. Still confuses me why we didn't keep him longer?

I also thought the Gilbert deal was a disaster. Was right about that one.

Tolber kinda confuses me as well.

Yeah Chris was a valuable cog for a few years.

Landon Johnson, forgot about him. Thought he was a steal. Well... he did rob us. Sorry, couldn't resist.

Was hoping Peete would finally put it all together, wrong again.

The biggest wtf one has to be Reggie White? How he wound up being a Panther is beyond me? He had some moments. But his time here was painful to watch.

Chuck Smith tortured us for years. When we signed him, I thought "good, the tables are turned." Instead, it worked out that he had just found a way to torture us for one more year :(

On the flipside, I did a literal facepalm when the news came across that we had signed Rod "He Hate Me" Smart
