How do you feel, now, after dissing Pep?

top dawg

Recommended Posts

I just want to know how all the Pep haters feel after talking so badly about Pep. You called him everything imaginable, and basically overlooked and downplayed all of his years of good service to the team in a very unapologetic, classless, "in-yo-face" manner. You pushed him out the door, hitting his backside before he could make it all the way out. You have alluded to the fact that he owes the fans and his teammates explanations and apologies, but ironically an apology from you is probably more appropriate.

Thank goodness that, barring some unforeseen circumstance, Pep will be returning back to where he belongs. Thank goodness that there are fans, like myself, who are smart enough to realize that Pep's presence is a plus for the Panthers, are mature enough to realize that business is business, and are appreciative enough to let Pep know that a great many of us have always believed in him, and will continue to do so.

P.S. Dear Pep:

I hate that you couldn't work it out (tongue-in-cheek);), Pep, but I'm glad that you're returning and hope that you will continue to be a Panther for the remainder of your career.

Love, Top Dawg.

This is not a thread for me, I did none of those things. But I'm also not going to try to make them eat crow saying "I told you so", just not my style...

Have fun with though...

Yeah, I made fun of him, but I was never kicking him out the door. But this should be a very busy thread though...

Though I have never bashed him like others have, and would love for him to be here another season...he hasn't signed his tender yet...and we're going off a text message in the belief he'll be here for TC.

You should probably hold off on this thread, then hit the haters where it hurts when we see photos of Pep in pads.

you know what's awesome? there's gonna be 20 more threads like this coming. congrats on being the first.

i'm a fan if he's here. i'm not a fan if he took off somewhere else. it's just business and i'm a panthers fan...not an ex-panthers fan (unless they retire a panther and then it's in another category).

he shouldn't have expected us to love the idea that he was rejecting the panthers and the fans (which is what he was doing). i was pissed at first...horrible timing and a crappy way to express his desires, imo, but it's over now. i'm over it. i've been over it.

cheers to all of you who want to try and force feed crow to people. just remember, it could have just as easily gone the other way and until the tender is signed it still isn't 100% settled and even then, it doesn't mean that he will be here long term until that moment that he signs a new multi-year deal.

when pep is back in a panthers uni i hope nothing but success for him because he will be a part of the team. i hope he tears it up and i hope he gets a ring for his efforts. the players are happy about him coming back...that to me is all that matters at this point.

time to move on and get past it. arguing about who was right or wrong does nothing and trying to rub people's faces in it does nothing except for pump up some low self esteems. people take victories however they can get them.

if that wasn't the intent of the OP...cool. i don't know if it is or not. this was more a commentary on all the other threads that are sure to follow.

like i said...it's time to move on and that's what i'm doing. if you're a panthers fan, get on board. we got no time for piss fights. i don't anyway. we got a team to get excited about. only one thing matters...getting that ring.

I still feel totally justified in what I said about him. This changes nothing. He said he didn't want to be a Carolina Panther anymore, and he still does not. However, he knows that not playing next season would be a huge mistake for his potential value on the open market and he's sucking it up, for $17 million mind you, to come back and play 16 final games for the Panthers not including the postseason. He's going to earn $1 million for every time he puts on that Panthers uniform. Our ticket sales, our support, and our money on his back.

He's still a malcontent that didn't want to be here anymore. I am not going to cheer his accomplishments this year from anything other than a team standpoint. I am a Panthers fan, but no longer a Julius Peppers fan. If their success should coincide, then all the better. However, i'm not going out of my way to cheer for a player that didn't want to be here. I would MUCH rather invest my time in players like Jon Beason and Chris Harris that have shown their true Panther colors by being great men on and off the field and representing the Panthers and making me proud.

Well said Top Dawg. I think most of it was, like Rayzor said is fans were pissed and felt like he was basically throwing the fans who've bought his jersey's and stuff to the side. I can understand that point of view, I was pissed when he first said it. Mainly about the way him and his agent handled the matter, but still pissed about it. I do wish he would sign a long term contract and help the team out a bit. Kinda figured he wouldn't miss TC and would be there on time, at 30 in football you don't just throw away 17 million dollars and sit out.

If he's here and plays well, all will be forgotten I assume. What will the reaction be if he plays like he did in 2007 though??

Rayz, I get what you're saying. I really do. This is not about eating crow. This is about people being mature and having the common human courtesy and decency that one should have IMO when someone who has given so much to the Panthers organization expressed the desire to leave (for what are totally justifiable reasons). IMO, a mature, level headed fan should not act in the manner that so many have displayed on this board.

As long as Pep is a Panther, I will respect him. He has pretty much been a class act. When Pep is not a Panther, I will respect him. If something would send him packing tomorrow, I would wish him success as long as he is not playing the Panthers. I don't believe, and will never believe that this is too much to ask.

Football is a game of emotion, even for the fans.

I will let Peps play define my opinion of him.

At a $1,000,000.00 a game, I expect a lot from the guy who "cant reach his potential in Carolina"

I am excited to know that him and Brown will be playing together. For the 1st time in a LONG time we can dominate on defense again.

I think that will come more from Meeks than Pep and Brown being on the field together. But the two of them will defiantly help.... :D

Oh of course, now all the "mature" "level headed" fans are in here telling us that we're not real fans for being angry that Peppers decided he didn't want anything to do with the Panthers anymore. Of course, as long as the man is a Panther I will root for him and I will hope that he does well to help the team succeed, but that's about it. Guys like Beason, Smith, Williams, Hoover...they love being here, they love Carolina and they love this team. I admire those guys, but I can no longer say the same for malcontent, whining Julius Peppers.

    • It looked like a pretty bad hamstring injury too. I am not completely sure we see him the rest of the way
    • Even if they win it all and we have the #1 pick, it would still be about 10 picks because of the compensatory picks But it still was a terrible trade, just sayin, it’s probably going to end up about a dozen or so picks better, not that it means anything at that point in the draft anyways.
