Gamble

Please don't talk if you don't know the words coming.out of your mouth. The first year rr came here gamble was the top corner in the NFC and arguably the 2nd best in the league. Check your stat sheets before you go rambling.

Gamble hasn't shown much over the last 4 years. 2008 was his last good year but it was very good and he was solid before that. He is not a game changer anymore.

I think comps are only given out for FAs that walk, not those that are cut... could be wrong though.

You're right. You only get comp picks for FAs that walk, not cuts. The only comp pick we MIGHT get next year is if D. Edwards goes somewhere for a decent contract and/or plays really well.

edit: I suppose Capt is a potential comp pick too.

The draft is still coming.

We still have the draft picks we have to sign...and scrubs just to field a somewhat respectable roster.

Gamble being cut simply took us from being over the cap to now not being over. No real FA is coming without Gross, Beason, or Williams being touched( or another move not discussed here)

Draft picks count at rookie minimum until they sign their deals late summer, and with the rule of 51 in force in the offseason, rookies do not impact the cap even at the rookie minimum unless you have fewer than 51 signed players.

Bottom line, we don't have to worry about money for draft picks until post June 1st. So yes, we have plenty of money to sign a respectable FA prior to the draft.

Not sure what that means but here are some good CB stats. You can click on different columns for different metrics.

http://wp.advancednf...s=CB&season=all

All those stats tell me is that he has been a pretty solid CB for us, and thats without taking into account the type of defense we were running when Fox was here. We have had a lot of players come thru and play in the secondary since he was drafted and he has been the steady one all the way up to now. If he wasnt worth it we would have let him go a long time ago just like everybody else. He has been here 9 years and we couldnt find a more talented DB to put in the secondary. That says a lot about everyone else not him. Cant argue that.

Gamble has had a huge drop-off after 2008. He went from impact player and a top 15 CB annually to middle of the pack. 2009 and 2010 were still under fox.

Yes a team might still think he can be serviceable or "pretty solid" but my opinion is he has lost the edge.

Gamble was good years ago. I agree with happy panther. I got tired of seeing gamble line up ten yards away from the receiver only to still get burned deep. That's why gamble looked good at times because he usually the let receiver to catch the ball in front of him and then make the tackle. It seems most people here love him because he was a class act as far as staying out of trouble and keeping quiet. He's been decent over the years, but nothing to rave about.

Good. Paid to be better than good. He also got a bump bc every other CB and S he shared the field with in recent years was below average
